The Jaltest JDC509A is the adapter cable that connects the proprietary 16-pin diagnostic connector on machines from Volvo Construction Equipment to the standard 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest diagnostic cable. Volvo CE uses a custom 16-pin configuration that, despite the similar connector, is not compatible with the standard OBD2 interface; the connector is located in the cab.
This cable routes the communication lines through to the Jaltest Link, enabling direct communication with the machine's control modules. This gives your diagnostic equipment access to the vehicle computer VECU and V2ECU, the engine control unit EDC, the transmission controllers TECU and ZF Ergopower, and to the peripheral modules CU (climate), CCU (cab module), IC (instrument cluster) and the telematics module W-ECU. The number of modules varies by series: on an EC-series excavator, Jaltest accesses five; on an L-series wheel loader, eight. For construction equipment, a standardized OBD2 connector has never been mandatory, which is why this connector remains in use on newer machines. The cable falls under Jaltest OHW (Off-Highway machines).

Through this 16-pin connection, you access the machine's control units with Jaltest software. Which units are available depends on the series and generation.

- Central computer VECU and V2ECU (vehicle electronic control unit): The vehicle computer that controls machine functions.
- Engine management EDC (electronic diesel control): Electronic diesel engine control.
- Transmission TECU (transmission electronic control unit) and ZF Ergopower: Bucket controls on wheel loaders.
- Climate control CU (climate control unit): Air conditioning and cabin heating.
- Electronic cabin module CCU (cabin control unit): Cabin module on excavators.
- Instrument cluster IC (instrument cluster): Display showing machine data.
- Telematics W-ECU (telematic module): Data logging and telematics module on wheel loaders.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the fault memory of the control unit with descriptions of detected faults.
- View live sensor data: Monitor current sensor values controlled by the ECU, with the ability to set alarm thresholds.
- Check service intervals: View scheduled maintenance and required service work, with a report for workshop documentation. Available on engines like the EDC engine control and instrument cluster.
