The Jaltest JDC216A9 is the adapter cable connecting the 3+3-pin inline connector in the pass-through J1939 backbone to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. The adapter is inserted into that backbone: because it has both a male and female side, the cable run between the control units remains connected during measurement. At 28-30 cm in length, you work right at the connector itself, which sits in the pass-through cable run and therefore isn't always accessible from the cab.
Behind this connector lies the J1939 data network where the machine's control units communicate with each other. Once the adapter is inserted, the Jaltest equipment connects to that bus and reaches the control units listening on it; which ones depends on your machine and the modules in your license. On commercial and work vehicles without a dedicated diagnostic port, this connector is your entry point to the bus. The cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).
