The Topdon CarPal update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the CarPal with one year. The CarPal is a compact dongle that transforms your phone or tablet into a diagnostic reader and draws its coverage from a database that expands with the market. In addition to diagnostics on all available systems, the device performs a battery test on voltage and condition, and includes a library of warning lights and technical bulletins. With an active licence, that database remains current.
A licence renewal keeps the make coverage and the reset procedures up to date, ensuring newer model years stay within reach. No registration with a service desk is required, as you receive a code by email and activate the renewal yourself in the update menu for the CarPal. The serial number of the device is mandatory at the time of ordering. After expiry, the already installed software remains fully functional.

An update to the CarPal is rarely just an extended list of makes. The function files and to the online servicesalso change. Below is what you gain with a renewal and what stops working without one.
What a renewal provides
- New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
- Expanded service functions: also changes. Procedures such as oil and service interval resets, throttle body learning, electronic parking brake, diesel particulate filter regeneration and battery management resets continue to align with newer vehicles as manufacturers modify their systems.
- Corrections and improvements: Bug fixes, faster routines and corrected procedures in the software itself arrive through the same updates.
What happens without renewal
- New versions: Nothing further is added, including no corrections to software already installed.
- Online side: Services running through manufacturer servers may become limited or unavailable after expiry.
- Remains functional: The device is not locked; all installed functions continue to work fully.

How does it work in practice?
Includes four steps between your order and an updated CarPal, and three of those are handled by us or the device itself.
- Find the serial number: Locate the serial number of your CarPal and provide it with your order; this field is mandatory.
- Code in your mailbox: The code is in the message we send you, usually within one working day.
- Activate the renewal: In the update menu of the CarPal, enter the code, after which the new period begins.
- Download updates: Connect the CarPal to the charger, link to wifi and download the available versions.
