De Jaltest SST (50004002) is een zelfstandige snelheidssensortester voor de toerentalsensoren van rem- en aandrijfsystemen. Het is een handapparaat van 118 x 79 x 32 mm en 180 gram dat u met de knop MODE bedient en op leds afleest. Aan de kopse kant zitten drie banaanbussen in rood, blauw en zwart, voor voeding, signaal en massa.
In de leesstand beoordeelt u de sensor zelf. De tester laat zien of er een actieve (hall) of een passieve (inductieve) sensor hangt en meldt een onderbreking of kortsluiting apart. In de simulatiestand wekt hij zelf een sensorsignaal op, zodat u ziet of bedrading en regeleenheid reageren. Voeding komt uit een 9 volt-blokbatterij, los van uw diagnoseapparatuur.

Toepassingen en functionaliteiten
Met deze tester beoordeelt u een toerentalsensor los van het voertuignetwerk, aan de sensor zelf. Meet de sensor goed en blijft de foutcode staan, dan laat de simulatiestand zien of de storing in de bedrading of in de regeleenheid zit.

Zo gebruikt u hem
- Instructiekaart: Zoek de stand voor uw sensortype op.
- Aansluiten: Actief drie bussen, passief rood en blauw.
- Aanzetten: Druk kort op MODE.
- Stand kiezen: Kort drukken, ongeveer twee seconden bevestigen.
- Aflezen: Lees sensortype en storing op de leds.
Geschikte sensoren en toepassingen
Bepalend is het type sensor. Een snelheidssensor en een slijtagesensor zitten allebei bij het wiel, maar meten iets anders. Bij een snelheidssensor bepaalt de uitvoering, actief of passief, welke bussen u gebruikt.
Snelheidssensor of slijtagesensor:
- Snelheidssensor: Zit tegenover een tandkrans op de wielnaaf of in de aandrijflijn en geeft het toerental door aan het remsysteem. Dit is de sensor waar de SST voor is.
- Slijtagesensor: Zit in het remblok en geeft door hoeveel materiaal er nog over is. Daarvoor is de Jaltest (50004011) | Wear Sensor Tester (WST) bedoeld.
- Verschil in het signaal: Een snelheidssensor levert een wisselend signaal dat met het wiel meedraait; een slijtagesensor levert een waarde die met de dikte van het blok meeloopt.
Actief of passief:
- Actieve sensor: De hall-uitvoering. Die heeft een eigen voeding nodig, dus rood, blauw en zwart worden alle drie gebruikt.
- Passieve sensor: De inductieve uitvoering. Die wekt zelf spanning op zodra de tandkrans langsdraait, dus alleen rood en blauw worden gebruikt.
- Waarom dat uitmaakt: In de verkeerde stand krijgt u een uitslag die niet bij de sensor hoort. De tester toont daarom eerst welk type hij herkent.
