The OBDSTAR M074 connects the 3-pin diagnostic connector on Yanmar engines to the 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) port on your OBDSTAR diagnostic device. On the engine side, the Yanmar-specific 3-pin connector plugs directly into the factory diagnostic port; on the device side, you'll find a standard OBD2 female connector.
Yanmar engines use a proprietary 3-pin connector instead of a standard OBD2 port. The cable length and wiring are configured to match the Yanmar protocol pinout, ensuring that diagnostic signals reach your scan tool without alteration.
This cable establishes a connection to the engine control unit (ECU) of your Yanmar engine. What you can do with that connection depends on whether your OBDSTAR device's software supports that particular engine model — the cable itself provides no additional coverage.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and Features
Through the 3-pin connector, you gain access to the engine control unit of your Yammer engine.
Control Units You Can Access
- Engine Control Unit (ECU): the engine management module on your Yammer engine where the 3-pin diagnostic connector is located.
- Other modules: whether additional units are accessible varies depending on the engine type and device.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: retrieve stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the Yanmar ECU and display them on the OBDSTAR device.
- Clear fault codes: erase the engine control unit memory after diagnosis.
- Monitor live data: read real-time engine parameters such as RPM, temperatures and sensor values while the engine is running.
- Convert connection: the 3-pin diagnostic port is converted to the 16-pin OBD2 connector of the OBDSTAR hardware.
- Please note: available functions depend on your device's software support for the specific Yanmar engine type.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The determining factor is the 3-pin diagnostic connector, not the engine type. OBDSTAR does not provide engine types with model years for this cable; compatibility is determined by the connector present.
