The OBDSTAR TCM-023 is an adapter cable featuring a 58-pin connector on the vehicle side for the transmission control module and a 15-pin DB15 connector on the device side. The 58-pin side connects directly to the original TCM connector of the ZF 9HP automatic transmission, whose control unit is typically integrated inside the gearbox; the vehicle's OBD2 port remains unused.
The ZF 9HP is a nine-speed automatic transmission licensed and deployed by various manufacturers; in Stellantis models, the same transmission carries the licensed name Chrysler 948TE. Its proprietary multi-pin TCM connection enables bench access: the diagnostic system bypasses the vehicle network and communicates directly with the control module. This allows software data to be read and written even when vehicle network communication fails—for example, with a faulty or non-responsive TCM.
The cable provides access to this transmission control module only. Which operations are actually possible depends on the connected OBDSTAR device and its software support; the cable itself adds no additional vehicle coverage. For bench use, the TCM must also be supplied with separate power and ground connections.

The TCM-023 establishes a bench connection between the transmission control module of a ZF 9HP and the DB15 port of your OBDSTAR device.
Control modules you can access
- ZF 9HP transmission control module: the TCM of the nine-speed automatic, via the original 58-pin connector.
- Non-communicating module: even a faulty or unresponsive TCM remains accessible through this method, outside the vehicle network.
What you can do
- Read TCM data: retrieve current software content and configuration data via the 58-pin connection, independent of the vehicle network.
- Write TCM software: Write modified or replacement software, for example when replacing the control unit or making a software update.
- Identify the TCM: Read hardware version, software version, and calibration identifiers to verify before or after a programming operation.
- Perform bench programming: Access and program the unit outside the vehicle, even if the control unit is not communicating.
- Important note: The functions mentioned are only available if the connected OBDSTAR device supports them; the cable provides the connection only.

What matters is the presence of the ZF 9HP automatic transmission, not the vehicle model. For Stellantis models, the same transmission is known under the Chrysler 948TE license name. The vehicles listed below are equipped with this automatic.
