The OBDSTAR TCM-022 is an adapter cable featuring a 16-pin connector on the vehicle side for the Continental transmission control unit and a 15-pin DB15 connector on the device side. The 16-pin side connects to the Continental TCU port in the mechatronic unit of a ZF 6HP automatic transmission, as found in the 6HP19, 6HP21, 6HP26 and related variants.
The mechatronic unit is housed internally within the transmission housing and features its own connector on the module itself. This direct connection provides wired access to the TCM outside the vehicle's OBD2 port, even when the CAN-bus or K-line cannot be reached through the standard diagnostic connector. This direct access route is essential when the transmission is serviced separately on the workbench, or when communication issues through the vehicle prevent proper diagnostics.
This cable is exclusively compatible with Continental units in the ZF 6HP transmission series; the same gearbox fitted with a TCU from another supplier is not supported. Reading, reprogramming, and calibration are only possible to the extent that your OBDSTAR device's software supports these functions.

- TCM programming: write new software or make adjustments, even when vehicle communication is impossible due to CAN-bus faults.
- Calibrate the TCM: reset the transmission's adaptive parameters after replacing or repairing the mechatronic unit.
- Perform bench diagnostics: access the TCM with the transmission removed and powered externally.
- Important: which of these operations are available depends on your OBDSTAR device's software and license; the cable only provides the connection path.
