The OBDSTAR TCM-021 is an adapter cable featuring a 16-pin round connector on the vehicle side for the transmission control module and a 15-pin DB15 connector on the device side. The 16-pin connector plugs directly into the TCM of a ZF 6HP automatic transmission in the 6HP19, 6HP21, 6HP26, 6HP28, and 6HP32 variants, which are typically mounted on or within the transmission housing.
The ZF 6HP series is widely used across many European and international vehicle manufacturers, and the dedicated TCM connector exists to access the control module when the standard diagnostic port is unavailable or not fully functional. With this cable, the connection does not run directly to the programmer: the TCM-021 is exclusively functional when paired with the OBDSTAR Converter V2, which translates the signals to the programming interface level of the connected device. Without that converter, the cable will not work.
This cable unlocks the ZF 6HP transmission control unit and nothing else. Whether you can read data, write data, or program a replacement unit depends on your own OBDSTAR device's software; the cable itself does not add any vehicle coverage.

The TCM-021 connects the transmission control unit of a ZF 6HP automatic gearbox to your OBDSTAR device via the Converter V2.
Control units you can reach
- ZF 6HP transmission control unit:the TCM of the 6HP19, 6HP21, 6HP26, 6HP28 and 6HP32 via the 16-pin round connector.
- Standalone bench unit:the same connection can be used when the TCM is serviced outside the vehicle.
What you can do
- Read TCM data:access the memory contents of the ZF 6HP TCM, allowing stored calibration and configuration data to be read out.
- Writing TCM data: write modified or replacement data back via the direct 16-pin connection, bypassing the vehicle's OBD network.
- Program a replacement unit: equip a new ZF 6HP transmission control module with the correct vehicle-specific transmission parameters.
- Work in bench mode: connect and service the unit independently of the vehicle.
- Important note: all the work described above requires both the Converter V2 and an OBDSTAR device with software that supports the relevant function.
