The OBDSTAR TCM-012 is an adapter cable featuring a 6-pin connector on the vehicle side for Siemens VGS2-NAG2 and VGS3-NAG2 transmission control modules, and a 15-pin DB15 connector on the device side. The 6-pin connector plugs directly into the TCM, which is mounted on or near the transmission housing on most Mercedes-Benz models and is accessible from underneath the vehicle.

This TCM variant is found in Mercedes-Benz 722.9 7G-Tronic automatic transmissions and features a distinctive 6-pin connector. Through this connection, the control module receives power while diagnostic and programming protocols are transmitted—essential for reading or reprogramming transmission data. The cable bypasses the vehicle's OBD port entirely, enabling TCM replacement, data recovery, and adaptation resets. The DB15 end connects directly to your OBDSTAR device without additional adapters.

The cable unlocks this transmission control unit only and adds no functionality on its own. What you can program, reset, or read depends on your OBDSTAR device's software and license. For bench work, you'll also need an external power supply, since the TCM receives no power outside the vehicle.
