The OBDSTAR T006 features a 15-pin DB15 connector on the device side and splits into a 12-pin and 22-pin GSM connector on the vehicle side. These two connectors connect directly to the wiring of the gear shift module in the center console of Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles.
The shift module in these vehicles has two separate plugs. With the split cable design, both are controlled simultaneously, allowing the OBDSTAR test platform to read and control all relevant signals from the shifter. The connection operates independently of the vehicle network, enabling targeted module testing without CAN network interference.
This cable is a test connection for this specific module only: it does not provide OBD2 diagnostics and cannot be used for general vehicle reading. The shift housing must be removed to access the connectors. The models listed below are confirmed with model years; which tests are available depends on your test platform.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and Functions
When used with equipment from the OBDSTAR test platform series, this cable supports the following work on the gear shift module.
Control units you can access
- Gear shift module: directly connected via the 12-pin and 22-pin GSM connectors in the center console.
- No other vehicle systems: the connection operates independently of the vehicle network, so only the shift module is addressed.
What you can do
- Perform lift test: electrically control the lift function of the gear lever and read the module's response.
- Perform switch test: check the switching signals for correct response when changing gear positions.
- Connect module directly: establish communication with the test platform outside the standard vehicle diagnostic port.
- Assess module before replacement: determine whether the fault lies with the gear lever module before proceeding with replacement.
- Note: verify in advance that the specific model year and variant actually have the 12-pin and 22-pin GSM connector.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The determining factor is the 12-pin and 22-pin GSM connector on the transmission lever module, not the model. The vehicles listed below are confirmed compatible. For production runs that are still ongoing, a later variant may use a different module; therefore, check the connectors themselves.
