The OBDSTAR MS80 Basic update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the MS80 Basic for one year. The Basic is the entry-level version of the MS80 and carries its own licence, separate from that of the STD version.
A licence renewal maintains the vehicle coverage and service functions of your version and includes software corrections. What a renewal does not do is upgrade the Basic to STD; the difference between the two versions lies in the device itself, not the licence. After expiry, your MS80 Basic will continue to operate on the last installed version.

What the extension provides you with

What happens without renewal
- New software:The update menu no longer provides new versions; the device will remain on the version currently installed.
- Online services:The online services provided by OBDSTAR may be unavailable or subject to limitations.
- Existing diagnostics:Reading, erasing, live data and actuator tests on already supported vehicles continue to work as normal.

How does it work in practice?
From order to updated device, there are four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to find yourself.
- Provide serial number: Enter the serial number of your MS80 Basic in the order notes field.
- Activation: We link the licence to that serial number, typically within one working day.
- Connect device: Switch on the MS80 Basic and connect it to wifi; keep it on the charger whilst downloading.
- Install updates: Open the update menu and install the available versions.
