The OBDSTAR M078 is the adapter cable for the 9-pin round OBD diagnostic connector on marine diesel engines. The cable connects that connector to the 16-pin OBD2 (J1962)-port on your OBDSTAR diagnostic tool and plugs directly into the engine's diagnostic socket on the motor side.

Several marine diesel engine manufacturers use the same round 9-pin connector instead of a standard OBD2 port. The cable enables signal transmission between the engine system and diagnostic device, allowing communication protocols such as CAN and K-line to pass through unchanged.

The cable unlocks the engine control system of the diesel motor. Which fault codes, live data, and identification information you can then retrieve depends on the support available in the OBDSTAR software for that specific engine model and year.
