The OBDSTAR N027 connects a 3-pin OBD connector on the vehicle side to a 16-pin OBD2 connector (J1962) on the device side. The adapter plugs into the manufacturer-specific three-pin diagnostic port found on Kymco and Kawasaki motorcycles, typically located beneath the seat or behind a panel near the handlebars.
Both brands use the same three-pin diagnostic port across a range of models instead of a full OBD2 connection. The pin configuration on the vehicle side is matched to the electrical layout of that port, routing the relevant signal lines — including the K-line — to the corresponding OBD2 pins. This establishes the connection without any modifications to the motorcycle's wiring.
The adapter provides access to the port; it does not unlock additional functions. For the specified Kawasaki and Kymco models, model years are listed below, but whether a particular operation is possible depends on the coverage in your own OBDSTAR device for that model and year.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and Functions
When paired with an OBDSTAR diagnostic reader that supports motorcycles, the adapter enables the following operations.
Control units you can access
- Engine management system: the engine control unit is accessed via the three-pin port for fault codes and live data.
- Vehicle and System Information: identification data such as the control unit type and ECU software version are read out.
What You Can Do
- Manage Fault Codes: read stored and current diagnostic trouble codes from the engine management system and clear them after repair.
- Read Live Data: monitor sensor readings and engine parameters in real time to trace deviations in riding behavior or engine performance.
- Identify System: query the control unit type and ECU software version.
- Verify Model Year: use the read data to confirm whether the motorcycle falls within the specified range.
- Important: the adapter does not determine what's possible; the software of the connected OBDSTAR device does that for the specific model and year.
Compatible Vehicles and Applications
What matters is the 3-pin diagnostic port on the motorcycle, not the model name on the fairing. The models listed below are specified with this port. For models with an open year range, a later version may differ; always check the connector itself.
