The OBDSTAR M027 converts the 3-pin diagnostic connector found on Kymco and Kawasaki motorcycles to the standard 16-pin OBD2 (J1962) port. The 3-pin connector housing is factory-specific and fits mechanically onto the diagnostic socket of the relevant models.
Both manufacturers used this 3-pin connector on models without a direct OBD2 port. The signal pins are internally wired to the corresponding contacts on the 16-pin side, so K-line or CAN communication remains uninterrupted. No vehicle modifications are required.
Through this adapter cable, you gain access to the engine control units behind that port. What you can do with them depends on the software of your OBDSTAR diagnostic device.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and Features
Access the control units of your motorcycle or scooter through the 3-pin diagnostic port.
Control units you can reach
- Electronic control units: the units connected to the 3-pin port, including engine management.
- Other systems: which modules are accessible varies by model and depends on your device's coverage.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: retrieve stored and active fault codes (DTCs) from the control units.
- Clear fault codes: remove codes from the control unit, after which the system performs self-diagnosis again.
- Request live data: monitor real-time sensor and actuator values while idling or riding.
- System identification: retrieve vehicle and system information, such as control unit type and software version.
- Note: available functions vary by model and OBDSTAR device.
