The OBDSTAR N019 connects the KTM 6-pin diagnostic connector on the vehicle side to a 16-pin OBD2 port (J1962) on the device side. On the vehicle side, the compact 6-pin plug fits the motorcycle's proprietary diagnostic socket, typically located under the seat or behind a fairing panel.
KTM uses its own 6-pin diagnostic connector on a large portion of its models. The adapter translates the pin configuration and signal lines to the corresponding J1962 pins, enabling communication via K-line or CAN-bus protocols. There is no active electronics inside: signal transmission is completely passive, so the adapter does not interfere with vehicle communication.
The adapter simply connects your diagnostic tool to the motorcycle and processes no data itself. What can subsequently be read or programmed depends on the motorcycle coverage of your connected OBDSTAR device. The model list below is provided by series without individual model years; the source only specifies that these are versions with the 6-pin connector.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and functionality
With an OBDSTAR device that includes motorcycle coverage, the adapter supports the following operations on KTM models equipped with the 6-pin port.
Control units you can access
- Motorcycle control units: the adapter provides access to control units connected via the 6-pin diagnostic connector.
- Engine System: the engine system is accessed via the K-line or CAN-bus, depending on the model variant.
What You Can Do
- Read Fault Codes: retrieve stored and active diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the control units.
- Clear Fault Codes: erase confirmed fault codes from the memory of the relevant control unit after diagnosis or repair.
- Stream Live Data: monitor real-time sensor readings and engine parameters to analyze your motorcycle's performance.
- Signal Path Conversion: passively convert the KTM 6-pin signal to J1962 format, allowing your OBDSTAR device to correctly interpret vehicle communication.
- Important: this adapter does not add diagnostic functionality beyond what your connected OBDSTAR device supports for the specific model.
Compatible Vehicles and Applications
What matters is the 6-pin KTM diagnostic connector, not the series or engine displacement. Within the same series, some models have this connector and others don't. The source doesn't specify individual model years per series; check the connector under the seat or behind the fairing panel.
KTM:
- Duke Series (125, 200, 390, 690, 790, 890, 990): (various model years with 6-pin OBD connector)
- RC Series (125, 200, 390): (various model years with 6-pin OBD connector)
- Adventure Series (390, 790, 890, 990, 1090, 1190, 1290): (various model years with 6-pin OBD connector)
- SMC / SMC R (690): (various model years with 6-pin OBD connector)
- EXC / EXC-F / XC-W (off-road models with 6-pin diagnostic connector): (model years not specified in the source)
