The OBDSTAR CAN DIRECT-V2 is a specialized diagnostic cable set designed to bypass the Security Gateway (SGW) in modern vehicles. This adapter cable provides technicians with direct access to the CAN bus, which is necessary because regular data reading and writing rights via the standard OBD2 port are blocked by the gateway. The set is specifically developed for advanced diagnostic tasks, including proximity key programming, dashboard calibration, and CAN frame acquisition. The system is widely applicable to recent models from brands such as Toyota, Lexus, FCA, Renault, and Opel, and is also compatible with third-party diagnostic equipment due to its universal connectors.
During use, the main cable is connected to the diagnostic equipment and the OBD port, after which the loose signal wires are tapped directly from the internal communication networks. For vehicles lacking specific connectors for the CAN lines, the technician uses the included wire piercing probes (back-probe pins) to reliably contact the CAN-High and CAN-Low wires without permanently damaging the insulation. For FCA vehicles, the special Jeep/Chrysler CAN-C bus connector is used for a direct, interference-free connection to the network. This creates an uninterrupted data flow between the vehicle network and the tester, allowing critical ECU adjustments to be safely performed outside the gateway restrictions.
