The OBDSTAR M002 is a power cable with battery clamps on one end and a DC connector on the other. The clamps connect directly to the 12V battery — red to positive, black to negative — and the DC connector plugs into the power input of your OBDSTAR device.
The cable is designed to power the host device independently of the OBD port. The cable includes an inline fuse that protects both the device and battery against short circuits and power surges. This makes it ideal for bench work and key programming outside the vehicle.
The M002 supplies power only and does not provide data communication with the vehicle. Separate data connectivity is still required for diagnostics, and which functions you can perform depends on your device's software.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and functionality
The cable supplies power to the host device only, not data connectivity.
Control modules you can reach
- None — power supply only: the cable makes no connection to vehicle control units.
- Host device: the DC power input of the OBDSTAR diagnostic tool powered via the vehicle battery.
What you can do
- Bench power supply: deliver 12V from a battery to the host device for diagnostics and programming outside the vehicle.
- Program keys without a vehicle: edit keys or immobilizer modules when there's no car nearby.
- Supplement power during diagnostics: supply the device with power when the OBD port provides no or insufficient voltage.
- Protect against short circuits: safeguard the device via the inline fuse against power spikes and shorts.
- Please note: this cable adds no new functions; what you can perform depends on your OBDSTAR device capabilities.
Compatible vehicles and applications
What matters is the DC power input on your device, not the vehicle model. The source lists no makes or model years: the cable connects to a 12V battery and works across all vehicle brands.
- Vehicles with 12V battery: the clamps attach to the positive and negative battery terminals.
- OBDSTAR host equipment with DC input: the device-side connector fits tools with the matching power input.
