Diagnostic functions

The IScan Japan supports full diagnostics on the electronic control systems of Japanese motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, and UTVs. The functions below apply to all supported vehicle systems.

• Read fault codes: Read current and stored fault codes from control modules with corresponding descriptions.
• Clear fault codes: Remove stored fault codes after completed repair.
• Live data streams: Real-time display of sensor and actuator values in text, waveform, or gauge view.
• Actuator test: Activating actuators for functional checking of components.
• Read ECU information: Displaying module identification such as software version and part number.
• Coding: Modifying module configuration via menu-driven coding.
• Module settings: Adjusting parameters in control modules according to factory procedures.
• Automatic scanning: Full system scan across all control modules present on the vehicle.
• Automatic VIN recognition: Automatically recognizing the frame number for faster vehicle identification.
• Record and playback data: Capturing live data streams during a test ride for later analysis.

Key and EEPROM functions

IScan Japan supports key programming for Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha. In combination with the optional P001 IMMO kit and P003+ IMMO adapter, advanced EEPROM and FLASH operations are also possible.

• Register key/remote control: Teaching new keys or remote controls to the immobilizer system.
• Immobilizer key registration: Registering keys in the motorcycle's IMMO module.
• Register steering lock unit: Learning a new steering lock unit after replacement.
• Register engine control unit: Pairing a replaced or new ECU with the IMMO system.
• Write frame number: Programming the VIN into the control module after ECU replacement.
• EEPROM and FLASH operations: Reading and writing data from engine ECUs via the optional P003+ Adapter, without soldering.
• ECU cloning: Cloning an ECU via the optional P001 IMMO kit.

Engine and drivetrain

• Adjust idle speed: Setting the engine's idle speed.
• Idle speed learning: Learning the standard values for idle speed after maintenance or repair.
• Throttle body learning value reset: Resetting learning values after cleaning or replacing the throttle body.
• Throttle valve position zero point reset: Resetting the zero position of the throttle valve.
• Throttle position sensor learning value reset: Resetting the learning values of the throttle position sensor.
• CO adjustment: Adjust the CO value for exhaust gas control.
• Lambda sensor learning value reset: Reset learning values of the lambda sensor.
• Oxygen sensor learning value reset: Reset learning values of the oxygen sensor.
• Ethanol index learning value reset: Reset learning values for the ethanol index in flex-fuel engines.
• Adjust correction value for ethanol fuel: Set the correction factor for ethanol fuel.

License information

When purchasing the OBDSTAR IScan Japan, a 1-year software license is included, providing access to all available software updates for the supported Japanese brands during this period.

• License period: 1 year of free software updates from the first activation of the device.
• Software updates: Include support for new models and model years of Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha, expansions of service and key functions, and improvements or fixes in existing software.
• Extended features: Online features such as one-click remote support, online updates, and the latest diagnostic and key programming protocols require an active license.
• After license expiration: The device will continue to work with the last installed software version. New updates and online features will only be available again after renewing the license.
