The Jaltest JT2002 is a digital multimeter that selects its measuring range automatically. The display shows Autorange, and the RANGE key lets you set the range manually if required. Below the rotary switch are four input sockets, marked 10A MAX, mA µA, COM, and the socket for voltage, resistance, capacitance and frequency. The marking next to COM reads CAT IV 600V and CAT III 1000V.
In addition to voltage and resistance, the dial has settings for capacitance, for frequency and duty cycle under the Hz% label, and for temperature in °C and °F. A type K thermocouple with a measuring adapter is supplied for this purpose. The three current settings measure DC and AC current in µA, mA and A. The display shows four digits; the orange HOLD/LIGHT key holds the reading and switches on the lighting.

Applications and functionality
The JT2002 measures the same quantities as the JT2001, but with automatic range selection and with settings the JT2001 lacks, such as temperature and AC current. The dial and the four input sockets together determine what is possible.
What you measure with the rotary switch
- Voltage: V and mV, DC and AC.
- Resistance: With continuity and diode.
- Capacitance: On the resistance setting.
- Hz%: Frequency and duty cycle.
- Temperature: In °C and °F.
- Current: In µA, mA and A.
What you can do
- RANGE: Select the range manually.
- MAX MIN: Hold the extremes.
- REL: Use the current value as zero reference.
- Hz%: Switch to frequency.
- HOLD/LIGHT: Hold the reading and switch on the lighting.
How to use it
- Select position: Turn the knob to the desired measurement.
- Insert leads: Black into COM, red into the correct socket.
- Range: Leave on Autorange or select with RANGE.
- Measure: Place the test probes on the measuring point.
- Reading: Hold the value with HOLD/LIGHT.
Difference with the other Jaltest multimeters
What matters is what you want to measure, not the type number. The web shop lists three Jaltest multimeters under the name Multimeter. The JT2002 is the only one of the three with a temperature setting and a supplied thermocouple.
Jaltest JT2001 | Multimeter:
- Range selection: Fully manual, with all ranges individually selectable on the rotary switch.

- Current: DC only, up to 10 A.

Jaltest JT2003 | Multimeter:
- Measuring principle: True RMS, marked on the front.
- Housing: Marked IP65 and fitted with a built-in torch.
- Current: Separate A socket up to 20 A, compared with 10 A on the JT2002.
- Special settings: LoZ, LPF, Motor, PEAK and a combined AC+DC setting.
- Display: Four digits, with a bar graph scale from 0 to 60.
- What is missing: A temperature setting; that is only on the JT2002.
The measurement sockets
- 10A MAX socket: Fused, marked 1000V max and no more than 10 seconds per 15 minutes.
- mA µA socket: Fused, marked 1000V max and 0.6 A max, and also the connection for the thermocouple.
- COM and voltage sockets: Marked together with CAT IV 600V and CAT III 1000V.
