The Jaltest JDC624A connects directly to the 18-pin connector on the engine control unit of Tohatsu outboard motors and routes it to the 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest diagnostic equipment. The motor-side connector is a wide rectangular plug with a black housing, blue sealing ring and orange internal carrier containing eighteen positions arranged in two rows of nine; a bracket on the rear and a side clip secure it in place. Unlike most adapter cables, the interface side does not terminate in a loose connector head: the cable is attached via a threaded coupling to a compact black box which houses the 16-pin connection. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm in length.

Behind this single connection lie the two engine control modules that Jaltest supports on Tohatsu: the ECM from the MFS series and the ECM PGM-FI from the BFT series. The coverage difference lies between these two: with the PGM-FI version you can also adjust parameters and perform calibrations, whereas the ECM on MFS models does not support this. Because outboard motors have no standardised connector specification, this manufacturer-specific ECU connector remains in use on newer motors as well. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕For the 18-pin ECU connector only; for the 6-pin plug you will need the JDC632.9 (10–20 hp) or the JDC633A (40–60 hp).
✕This version is specified for the Jaltest Link V8.1, whereas most other marine cables work on both V8.1 and V9.

Via this connection you access the engine control unit of the Tohatsu outboard motor using Jaltest software. Which functions are available varies by engine range. The units listed below are from the Tohatsu coverage.
