\nThe Jaltest OBD401 is the adapter cable between the 38-pin OBD1 diagnostic connector of the Iveco Daily and the 16-pin OBD2 of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side, there is the wide 38-pin connector that Iveco fitted to the Daily before the OBD2 era in the dashboard on the passenger side, behind the plastic panel; on the interface side, there is the 16-pin OBD2 connector.\n

\nThis cable routes the communication lines from the Daily through to the Jaltest Link, enabling direct communication with the onboard control unit. This allows the diagnostic equipment to access the braking systemABS 5.3, the system that Jaltest specifies for the Turbodaily generation; comprehensive engine diagnostics are not included in the coverage for this generation. For diesel vans, the 16-pin EOBD connector became mandatory only from 1 January 2004, so on a Daily from after that transition, you will not need this adapter. The cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).\n

ADVANTAGES

✔Access to the 38-pin Daily connectorThe method for connecting the Jaltest Link to this manufacturer-specific connector.
✔Provides access to the braking system ABS 5.3, the system that Jaltest covers on the Turbodaily generation.
✔With the systems available, you work with the complete CV function set: Fault codes, measured values, component control, parameters and resets.
✔Keeps older Daily models in your workshop workflow with the same interface as the rest of your fleet.

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕On the Turbodaily generationis coverage limited: Jaltest lists the ABS 5.3 braking system for that, not comprehensive engine diagnostics.
✕Only for the 38-pin OBD1 connector; from the OBD2 generation onwards, diagnostics for the Daily runs through the standard 16-pin connector.
✕Systems such as EDC 16 C39, the BC-engine control unit, ABS8/ASR8/ESP8, the Airbag-regulation and the ECAS-air suspension systems are fitted to those later Daily generations and cannot be accessed with this adapter.
✕Requires a Jaltest Link with valid CV licence; the cable does not provide any additional coverage itself.

Applications and functionality

Using this connection, you can access the control unit present on this Daily generation with Jaltest software. Coverage is more limited compared to later OBD2 models.

Control units you can access

  • ABS 5.3, Antilock braking system:The braking system that Jaltest specifies for the Turbodaily generation.

What you can do

  • Read and clear fault codes:Reading the control unit fault memory with a description of the detected fault.
  • View measurement values:The current sensor values connected to the control unit, displayed in figures and graph format.
  • Control components:Parts can be activated directly to determine whether a fault lies with the component itself or in the wiring.
  • Configure parameters:Write configurations and settings to the control unit.
  • Performing resets:Resetting counters and fault codes after a repair.
  • Realtime data monitoring:Live monitoring of measurement values during a test drive or road test.

Compatible vehicles and applications

Determining the correct adapter depends on the connector type, not the vehicle model. This adapter fits any Iveco Daily equipped with the 38-pin diagnostic connector from the pre-OBD2 era. Jaltest covers the generations listed below; you should verify on-site which connector is fitted in your vehicle's dashboard.

Iveco Daily:

  • Daily (2nd generation, facelift):(approx. 1996 - 1999)
  • Daily III (3rd generation): (approx. 1999 - 2004)
💡
Useful to know: The 38-pin connector is located in the dashboard on the passenger side, behind the plastic panel. For diesel vans, the 16-pin EOBD connection only became mandatory from 1 January 2004, so around that transition period you may encounter both connectors. Therefore, check which connector your vehicle has before ordering.
