The Jaltest JDC604.9 connects the 10-pin MEFI connector of MerCruiser inboard engines to your Jaltest interface. On the engine side, a rectangular black plug carries ten pins arranged in a double row of five, with a locking clip on the rear. On the interface side, the cable terminates in a 26-pin D-sub with screw locking, which you connect to the Jaltest Link V9 via the extension cable JDC100B. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm.
Behind that connector lies the MEFI fuel injection control — the petrol engine management system MerCruiser fitted to inboard blocks for years, in the generations MEFI 1-2 and MEFI 3-4. Jaltest handles both identically: read fault codes, view live parameters, command actuators and monitor live data — all covered. Calibrationparameter adjustment and reset are absent here; those functions belong to the newer ECM and PCM-555 control units, which have their own 4-pin connector. This cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Applications and functionality
Via this connection you can access with Jaltest software the MEFI engine control unit of the MerCruiser block. That is the only unit behind this 10-pin connector: The throttle and shift control and the steering control are located on separate units with their own connectors on Mercury engines. The units listed below are covered by Mercury coverage in Jaltest Marine.
Control units you can access
- MEFI 1-2, engine control: The first two generations of MEFI fuel injection control, with fault codes, measured values, component actuation and live data.
- MEFI 3-4, engine control: The third and fourth generation, with the same functions.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the MEFI control unit, with descriptions of detected faults.
- View measured values: The current readings from sensors connected to the MEFI control unit.
- Actuate components: Control actuators directly to determine whether a fault lies with the component itself.
- Monitor live data: Track values in real time while the engine is running.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type is what matters, not the model. This cable fits any MerCruiser inboard block with the 10-pin MEFI connector. Jaltest Marine covers the engines listed below; to confirm compatibility, check the rectangular black connector with a double row of five pins rather than the model number of the block.
