The Jaltest MDC13 is the ETM multi-pin cable for speed sensors. One end has a 16-pin OBD2 plug in a black housing marked MDC13, which connects to the Jaltest ETM. The other end has two cables leading to two loose test pins of the banana plug type, one green and one yellow.
With these pins you probe directly on the sensor connection. There is no fixed mating connector attached; that is what multi-pin means here. This is how you measure speed sensors on commercial vehicles with the ETM, independently of the control unit. The cable only works with the ETM on a Jaltest Link, with an ETM licence and a current CV or Modular software licence.
ADVANTAGES
POINTS TO NOTE
Applications and functionality
Through this cable the Jaltest ETM communicates directly with the speed sensor, without involving the control unit. With the loose test pins you can also reach a sensor connection without a suitable mating connector.
What this cable is used for
- Speed sensors: Testing on commercial vehicles.
- Loose test pins: Green and yellow, placed by hand.
- No mating connector: Probe the contacts directly.
- Always with the ETM: On a Jaltest Link.
What you can do
- Standalone testing: ETM replaces the control unit.
- Identifying a fault: Sensor or wiring.
- End of Line test: Confirm that it works.
- Measure first: Do not replace unnecessarily.
How to use it
- Start the software: Open Jaltest with the ETM on the PC.
- Free the sensor: Disconnect the speed sensor plug.
- Place the pins: Put the green and yellow pin on the contacts.
- Connect the ETM: Plug the OBD2 end into the ETM.
- Testing: Select the sensor test in the ETM.
Compatible devices and applications
The deciding factors are the component and the number of pins. The MDC13 has two test pins and is intended for speed sensors. It works with the Jaltest ETM on a Jaltest Link V8.1 or V9. Below is an overview of which ETM cable belongs to which component.
Cables for the Jaltest ETM:
- MDC02 to MDC09: EBS modulators from Knorr-Bremse and Wabco.
- MDC12 and MDC13: Speed sensors.
- MDC10, MDC11 and MDC14: Brake pad wear sensors.
- MDC100.9: Adapter cable for an earlier ETM version.
What you need
- Jaltest ETM: The test module for components. For the Jaltest Link V9 this is the ETM interface 70001007; for an earlier ETM version, use the MDC100.9 adapter cable.
- ETM licence: The ETM does not start without this licence. The annual renewal has reference 29701.
- Current Jaltest software licence: A CV licence or a Modular licence. Other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
- PC or laptop: The ETM does not work on Jaltest handheld devices.
