The Jaltest MDC07 is the test cable connecting the 4-pin EBS connector on the modulator to the 16-pin OBD2 port of the Jaltest ETM. It is designed for first and second generation Wabco modulators and for second generation Knorr-Bremse trailer modulators. On the modulator side, it features a single round 4-pin connector with bayonet lock, which is compatible with both families. You connect it directly to the component itself, not to the vehicle's diagnostic connector.

With this connection, the Jaltest ETM assumes the role of the control unit and establishes communication with the modulator itself. This allows you to determine whether the component is genuinely faulty, or whether the fault lies in the wiring or control unit. The ETM performs a complete diagnostic scan of the modulator and an End of Line test. In addition to this cable, you will need the ETM itself, complete with an ETM licence and an active CV or Modular software licence.

KEY BENEFITS

Connects via a single round 4-pin connector with bayonet lock directly to first and second generation Wabco modulators, eliminating the need to improvise with loose test leads.
Also supports second generation Knorr-Bremse trailer modulators, so one cable covers two component families.
The ETM assumes the role of the control unit, allowing you to assess the component independently of the rest of the system.
Prevents unnecessary dismantling: If the modulator is functioning correctly, there is no need to remove it.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

Works exclusively with the Jaltest ETM; this cable is not intended for vehicle diagnostics via Jaltest Link.
Requires an ETM licence in addition to an active CV or Modular software licence; other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
The ETM does not operate on Jaltest handhelds; you control it from a PC or laptop.
The determining factor is which modulator generation is installed in the vehicle, not the vehicle manufacturer: For Wabco modulators of the third generation, use the MDC06, for the third generation with redundancy valve use the MDC09 and for the fourth generation use the MDC08.

Applications and functionality

Via this cable, the Jaltest ETM communicates directly with the component, without intervention from the vehicle's control unit. Below is a list of which components you can achieve with this cable and what you can establish in the workshop with it determine.

What you can achieve with this cable

  • Wabco EBS modulators: The first and second generation.
  • Knorr-Bremse trailer modulators: The second generation, the trailer brake control modules.

What you can do

  • Approach the component in isolation: The ETM takes over the role of the control unit and communicates directly with the component.
  • Determine whether the component is actually faulty: If the component works, the fault lies elsewhere in the system.
  • Test an EBS modulator in full: Complete diagnostic analysis of the modulator.
  • Perform an End of Line test (EOL): The check that confirms the component is functioning correctly.

What you need

  • Jaltest ETM: The test module itself. For the Jaltest Link V9, that is the ETM interface with reference 70001007; the complete ETM kit is 70001008.
  • ETM licence: Without this licence, the ETM will not start. The annual renewal has reference 29701.
  • An active Jaltest software licence: A CV licence or a Modular licence. Other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
  • Power supply: The ETM is powered from the vehicle batteries.
💡
Good to know: The ETM hardware, software and usage rights expire on the same date as your Jaltest software licence. If that licence runs for more than a year longer, you pay only for the remaining period. Once the Jaltest licence expires, the ETM will not work until it is renewed. Check when your Jaltest licence expires before you order.
