The Jaltest JT2002 is the middle model of the three Jaltest multimeters and automatically selects its measurement range: the display shows Autorange, and you can manually adjust the range using the RANGE button if needed. Beneath the rotary dial are four measurement terminals, marked 10A MAX, mA µA, COM and the terminal for voltage, resistance, capacitance and frequency. The marking next to COM indicates CAT IV 600V and CAT III 1000V.
Beyond voltage and resistance, the dial has settings for capacitance, for frequency with duty cycle under the label Hz%, and for temperature in °C and °F. The three current settings carry the symbol for DC and AC and are divided across µA, mA and A. The display shows four digits, whereas the JT2001 has three; above the dial sit the buttons RANGE, MAX MIN, REL Δ and Hz%, with the orange HOLD/LIGHT button alongside.

Application and functionality
The JT2002 is the all-rounder of the three: it measures the same parameters as the JT2001, but with automatic range selection and with functions the JT2001 lacks. The button and four test leads together determine what is possible. The list below follows the rotary dial, setting by setting.
What you can measure with the rotary dial
- Voltage in V and mV: Two settings, both with symbols for DC and AC voltage and with Hz% as secondary function.
- Resistance, continuity, diode and capacitance: Combined on one setting.
- Frequency and duty cycle: A dedicated setting marked Hz%, and as secondary function on the voltage and current settings.
- Temperature: A dedicated setting marked °C °F; the thermocouple connects to the mA µA and COM sockets.
- Current in µA, mA and A: Three settings, each with symbols for DC and AC current.
What the buttons and test leads do
- RANGE: Switches automatic range selection to manual operation.
- MAX MIN: Holds the highest and lowest measured value.
- REL: Sets the current reading as the reference point, so only the deviation remains.
- Hz%: Switches within a setting to frequency and duty cycle.
- HOLD/LIGHT: Locks the reading and activates the display backlight.
- Bus 10A MAX: Fused, rated 1000V maximum and 10 seconds maximum per 15 minutes.
- Bus mA µA: Fused, rated 1000V maximum and 0.6 A maximum, and also the connection for the thermocouple.
- COM and voltage terminals: Jointly rated CAT IV 600V and CAT III 1000V.
Comparison with other Jaltest multimeters
The webshop stocks three Jaltest multimeters under the same name Multimeter. The JT2002 sits between the other two with a wider measurement range than the JT2001, but without the True RMS function and the IP65 housing of the JT2003. Below is how the other two differ.
What matters is what you need to measure, not the model number. The JT2002 is the only one of the three with a temperature setting and with an included thermocouple.

- Special functions: LoZ, LPF, Motor, PEAK and a combined AC+DC mode.
- Display: Four digits with a bar graph ranging from 0 to 60.
- What's missing: A temperature function; that is only available on the JT2002.
