The Jaltest JT2001 is the simplest of the three Jaltest multimeters and operates via a rotary dial with each measurement range clearly marked individually. At the base are three measurement terminals, labelled 10A MAX, COM and V mA µA, the latter for voltage, resistance and low currents. Above the dial sits a HOLD/SEL button and a separate button for display backlight, with the LCD screen above showing three digits with APO and DC indicators. A blue rubber protective bumper runs around the entire housing.
The dial features ranges for DC voltage from 200 mV to 250 V and for AC voltage at 200 V and 250 V settings. DC current operates in four steps from 2000 µA to 10 A, resistance in six steps from 200 Ω to 200 MΩ . The dial also includes a setting for diode testing, one for continuity testing and an NCV mode that detects AC voltage without requiring the circuit to be opened. The terminal for voltage and resistance is marked CAT II 250V.

Application and functionality
The JT2001 is a handheld meter for testing wiring, fuses and power supplies. Everything the instrument can do is printed directly on the rotary dial itself. The list below follows that dial, position by position.
What you can measure with the rotary dial
- DC voltage (V): 200 mV, 2000 mV, 20 V, 200 V and 250 V.
- AC voltage (V~): 200 V and 250 V.
- DC current (A): 2000 µA, 20 mA, 200 mA and 10 A.
- Resistance (Ω): 200 Ω, 2000 Ω, 20 kΩ, 200 kΩ, 20 MΩ and 200 MΩ.
- Diode test: Dedicated setting with the diode symbol.
- Continuity test: Dedicated setting with the buzzer symbol.
- Non-contact voltage detection: The NCV mode detects alternating voltage near the measurement probe.
What the buttons and measurement terminals do
- HOLD/SEL: Freezes the reading on the display and switches between functions within a mode.
- Display backlight: Separate button to the right of the screen.
- 10A MAX terminal: Fused, rated 250V maximum with a maximum load of 10 seconds.
- COM terminal: Fixed ground terminal for the black test lead.
- V mA µA terminal: Fused to 200 mA maximum and rated CAT II 250V.
- Display: LCD with three digits, featuring APO indicator for automatic power-off and DC indicator for direct current.
How it differs from other Jaltest multimeters
The webshop stocks three Jaltest multimeters under the same name Multimeter. They vary in range selection, number of measurement terminals, safety category and what can be measured beyond voltage and resistance. Below is how the JT2001 differs from the other two.
What you need to measure determines the choice, not the model number. The JT2001 is the only one of the three with fully manual range selection and simultaneously the only one with an NCV mode.

- Special functions: LoZ, LPF, Motor, PEAK and a combined AC+DC function.
- Display: Four digits, with a bar scale from 0 to 60.
- Supplied with: A black zipped storage case.
