The Jaltest JDC620A connects the 8-pin diagnostic connector of MAN marine diesel engines to the 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the engine side, there is no flat connector but a threaded circular coupling: A nickel-plated sleeve with external threads and a knurled grip, containing eight gold-plated pins in a black housing. Behind this sits a ribbed strain relief where the cable runs straight out; the cable measures 28 to 30 cm. This connector is located at the engine or in the engine wiring harness of the installation. The MAN TG-series trucks have a completely different diagnostic connector with their own cables, so do not confuse the two.
Once the coupling is tightened, the diagnostic line opens to the control units of the engine system: The common rail-engine control EDC 7 C3 and the dual configuration EDC 7 Master/Slave C3/C32 of the V-engines, the engine control interface SFFR and the electronic throttle and reversing coupling control Marex OS II CR-MCP. On these systems, coverage extends beyond reading: Component actuation, parameters, calibrations and resets are also included. For marine applications, the 16-pin connector was never made mandatory, which is why this proprietary coupling remains in use on newer installations. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Applications and functionality
Through this connection, you access the control units of the engine installation using Jaltest software. Which systems are present depends on the engine series and the fitted control system. The units listed below are covered under MAN coverage within Jaltest Marine.
Control units you can access
- EDC 7 C3, engine control: The common rail engine control system for MAN marine diesel engines.
- EDC 7 Master/Slave C3/C32: The same control system in dual configuration for V-engines, with one control unit per cylinder bank.
- SFFR, engine control interface: The interface between the engine control system and the rest of the installation.
- Marex OS II CR-MCP: Electronic throttle and reversing clutch control.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the fault memory of the control unit with fault descriptions, and clear it after repair.
- View live data: Monitor current sensor values connected to the control unit, displayed as figures and graphs.
- Activate components: Directly trigger components to determine whether the fault lies with the component itself or in the wiring.
- Configure parameters: Write configurations and settings to the control unit.
- Perform calibrations: For systems where Jaltest offers a calibration procedure, for example after component replacement.
- Perform resets: Reset counters and notifications after repair.
- Monitor live data: Track measurement values in real time during a test run or sea trial.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the engine series. This cable fits MAN marine diesel engines with inboard installation and the round 8-pin coupling.
