The Jaltest JDC611A connects the 6-pin EGCI diagnostic connector of Volvo Penta petrol engines to a standard 16-pin OBD2 interface; the same cable serves the OBD-M version. On the engine side sits a black oval connector with six pins in a purple contact holder. The official description reads Diagnostic cable for Volvo Penta EGCI, 6-pin.
The cable opens the diagnostic line to the engine control unit and to the complete EVC network on board: The ECM EGC and the older fuel injection controllers MEFI 1-2 and MEFI 3-4, plus the EVC modules EVC-C and EVC-MC, the instrument panel HIU, the multiplex HCU, the powertrain PCU and the control SCU. The difference in coverage lies with the EVC-C and the EVC-MC: These contain only ECU data, parameters and, in the case of the EVC-MC, calibration data, and therefore no fault codes or measured values. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm and falls under Jaltest Marine.

What you receive
On the engine side there is no grey rectangular connector but a black, oval plastic connector that is noticeably larger than the JDC527A version. Behind the locking bracket sits a purple contact holder with six positions in a single row and gold-plated pins; it is therefore a male connector, whereas the JDC527A instead has contact sockets. Two guide pins protrude from the bottom of the connector.
Around the black cable for 28 to 30 cm is a white label, the text on which is not legible in the product photograph. The interface side is a 16-pin OBD2 socket with the Jaltest logo moulded into the plastic and a D-shaped opening with contact sockets.
Applications and functionality
Via this connection, you access the engine control and EVC modules of the Volvo Penta petrol engine using Jaltest software. The cable carries only the communication lines; which functions you obtain varies depending on the control unit. The most significant difference lies between the ECM EGC with the full feature set and the EVC parameter modules, where fault codes are absent.
Control units you can access
- ECM EGC — engine control: The control unit with the most comprehensive feature list: fault codes, measured values, component control, ECU data, parameters, calibration and live data.
- MEFI 1-2 and MEFI 3-4 — engine control: The older fuel injection control units, with fault codes, measured values, component control, ECU data and live data.
- EVC-C and EVC-MC — electronic module: The EVC control modules. These provide ECU data and parameters, with the EVC-MC also offering calibration — but no fault codes.
- HIU (EVC) — instrument panel:Fault codes, measured values, ECU data and live data.
- HCU (EVC) — multiplex:Fault codes, measured values, ECU data and live data.
- PCU (EVC) — powertrain:Fault codes, measured values, ECU data and live data.
- SCU (EVC) — control unit:Fault codes, measured values, ECU data and live data.

The connector type is what matters, not the model. This cable fits every Volvo Penta-petrol enginewith the6-pin EGCI connector in the black oval connector. The four Volvo Penta cables side by side
Volvo Penta uses different diagnostic connectors depending on the engine generation and application, so each configuration requires its own cable. Pin count alone won't guide you: TheJDC527A and the JDC611A are both six-pin, but the first has a grey rectangular connector with contact sockets and the second one black oval connector with pensin a purple contact holder. Only theJDC618A9 requires a Jaltest Link V9; the other three also work on V8.1.
