The Jaltest JDC544A connects the 8-pin diagnostic connector of Hyster forklifts with EControls engine management to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side, there is a round black connector with eight positions in two rows of four, a red seal at the front and a rectangular locking lug on top. On the OBD2 side, the reference number is moulded into the housing; the cable measures 28 to 30 cm.
Behind that single connection sit two control units: The engine control EControls ECM 4G for the LPG and petrol versions and the VECU, the truck's central vehicle computer. On the engine control, Jaltest software reads fault codes, measured values and maintenance data; on the VECU it is limited to fault codes and measured values. The cable works with Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and falls under Jaltest MHE and Jaltest OHW.

Applications and functionality
Using this connection, you access the control units of the forklift with Jaltest software. Behind the single connector are both the engine management and the vehicle control computer, each with its own set of functions. Which systems are present varies by model series and by engine variant.
Control units you can access
- EControls ECM 4G, engine management: Read and clear fault codes, live data and service information for LPG and petrol variants.
- VECU, vehicle control unit: The truck's main computer, with fault codes and live data.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the fault memory of the control unit, with descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Real-time sensor values connected to the control unit, displayed as figures and graphs.
- Check service information: Service intervals for EControls engine management; this function is not covered for VECU.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The engine management system determines compatibility, not the model year. This cable fits Hyster forklifts with EControls engine management and the round 8-pin diagnostic connector. Forklifts have no mandatory diagnostic connector, so this connector remains in use on newer trucks. Jaltest covers the following series listed below; check on your truck which connector you have before ordering.
Hyster (EControls engines):
- H40-60XT (EControls ECM 4G): Model year not determining factor.
- H2.0-3.5XT: European designation for the XT series.
- H40-70FT / H2.0-3.5FT: LPG variant.
- S40-70FT / S2.0-3.5FT: LPG variant.
- H80-120FT: LPG variant.
