The Jaltest JDC309A connects the MCP diagnostic interface of the ZF EcoLife bus gearbox to the 16-pin OBD2 socket where the Jaltest Link diagnostic cable plugs in. On the gearbox side sits a yellow rectangular connector in a black moulded housing, featuring flat blade terminals instead of round pins and with locking tabs on both sides. The yellow colour immediately distinguishes it from the cream-coloured round-pin connector of the Ecomat. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm in length.

Behind that connector lies the transmission control unit of the EcoLife, which Jaltest lists as EcoLife, the automatic gearbox. The MCP version is the variant with the 9-pin connector; the other EcoLife version uses mini-USB and belongs to JDC308A. This system focuses on reading and monitoring: fault codes, live data, control unit information and real-time viewing. The cable works with Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and falls under the Jaltest CV module.

KEY BENEFITS

Accesses the EcoLife transmission control unit directly on the gearbox, even when it does not communicate via vehicle diagnostics.
Theyellow connectoris visually identifiable, so you won't confuse the MCP version with thewhite Ecomat connector confused.
In addition to fault codes, also diagnostic readings, control unit data and watch in real timewith the box.
Determining is the ZF control unit, not the bodywork manufacturer, and the cable works with the Link V8.1 and V9.

IMPORTANT NOTES

With the EcoLife, Jaltest coverage remains at reading: Component control, parameter adjustment, calibration and reset are not listed in the coverage table for this system.
Only for the MCP version; the EcoLife with themini-USB-connection is part of JDC309A.
The older Ecomat-generation does not fit here: That goes via the 9-pin Mate N-Lock (JDC307A) or via the 3+6-pinsadapter (JDC303A).
With28 to 30 cm — the cable is short, so you work at the gearbox rather than from the driver's seat.

Applications and functionality

Using this connection, you access the Jaltest software to communicate with the transmission control unit of the EcoLife. Jaltest groups ZF gearboxes under a single coverage category for ZF transmissions. Within that category, each generation has its own connector.

Control units you can access

  • EcoLife automatic transmission: The ZF bus automatic for which this cable is designed, with fault codes, measured values, control unit data and live monitoring.

What you can do

  • Read and clear fault codes: Access and clear the fault memory of the EcoLife control unit after repair.
  • View measured values: The current sensor readings from the gearbox.
  • Live monitoring: Track system values during operation, displayed as figures and graphs.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The connector on the gearbox is what matters, not the bus brand. This cable is designed for the ZF EcoLife automatic transmission in the MCP version — identified by the yellow rectangular connector. The EcoLife was introduced in 2008 as the successor to the Ecomat and has been supplied as EcoLife 2 supplied. You can identify which of the two connectors on your gearbox is fitted by checking the colour and shape of the plug.

Application:

  • Buses with a ZF EcoLife automatic transmission: In the MCP configuration with the yellow 9-pin diagnostic connector.
  • Bus make is not decisive: The cable follows the ZF control unit, not the chassis manufacturer.
  • Beyond vehicle diagnostics: The EcoLife also has its own diagnostic connector on the gearbox.
💡
Good to know: The EcoLife comes in two diagnostic configurations: the yellow MCP connector which this cable is for, and a mini-USB for which you will need the JDC308A. The older Ecomat has a cream-coloured 9-pin connector instead (JDC307A). Check the gearbox itself to see which of the three is fitted before ordering.
