The Jaltest JDC307A connects the 9-pin Mate N-Lock connector of the ZF Ecomat 4 bus automatic gearbox to the 16-pin OBD2 port where the Jaltest Link diagnostic cable plugs in. The connector at the transmission end is off-white in colour, features three rows of three round pin positions, all nine of which are populated with pins, and is secured with a white retaining clip. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm in length.
Behind that single connector lies the transmission control unit of the ZF gearbox, which Jaltest covers under the designation Ecomat 2/4. Once the connection is established, the equipment accesses the fault memory, live data and configuration of that module; for Ecomat 2/4, the coverage includes not only reading fault codes but also component actuation and parameter configuration. The Ecomat is the earlier generation ZF bus automatic gearbox, which ZF supplied as Ecomat I, II and IV with four, five and six gears respectively, and which was later superseded by the EcoLife. The cable is compatible with Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and falls under the Jaltest CV module.

Using this connection, you access the Jaltest software to communicate with the transmission control unit of the ZF Ecomat. Jaltest groups ZF gearboxes under a single coverage category for ZF transmissions. Within that group, each gearbox generation has its own connector.

Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the bus brand. This cable fits any bus where the ZF Ecomat automatic transmission, the 9-pin Mate N-Lock connector features. The Ecomat is the generation before the EcoLife and was supplied as Ecomat I, II and IV with four, five and six gears respectively. Which version is fitted to your bus can be identified by the connector on the gearbox and not by the vehicle identification plate on the chassis.

- Buses equipped with a ZF Ecomat automatic transmission: With the 9-pin Mate N-Lock diagnostic connector on the gearbox.
- Bus manufacturer not decisive: The cable follows the ZF control unit, not the chassis manufacturer.
- Also on buses with their own OBD connector: The transmission control unit retains its own separate diagnostic connector.
