The Jaltest JDC302A connects the 9-pin ABS connector of Volvo bus chassis to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side is a white rectangular connector with nine positions in three rows of three, in a black overmould. Four positions have blade contacts, and the other five are sealed with yellow blanking plugs. On the interface side is a black OBD2 connector with JDC302A moulded into the housing.

With the cable connected, the Jaltest software reaches the brake electronics of the chassis. These are the ABS, together with the brake management systems EBS 2.X, EBS 5, EBS 5 VOLVO/RVI and EBS Gen 2. Because the connection is on the chassis, the body builder makes no difference. The cable works with the Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and is covered by Jaltest CV.

ADVANTAGES

POINTS TO NOTE

✕For the ABS connector only. The almost identical JDC301A is intended for the ECS suspension control, with five occupied positions instead of four.
✕You cannot reach the other bus systems, such as EDC, VECU, TECU and ECS, via this connector.
✕Buses from Euro IV (October 2005) onwards have the 16-pin OBD connector; you do not need this cable for those.
✕Five of the nine positions are closed with yellow blanking plugs; this cable does not pass those contacts through.

  4. Ignition on: Switch the ignition on without starting the engine.
  5. Reading out: Select Volvo Bus, the series and the braking system.

The connector matters, not the model. The cable fits Volvo bus chassis with the 9-pin ABS connector. The series listed below are covered by Jaltest CV coverage; check on site which connector is fitted to your chassis.

  • B10B: Build years 1992 to 2001.
  • B7R: Build years 1997 to 2005.
  • B12B: Build years 1997 to 2005.

💡
Good to know: The 9-pin ABS connector is located on the bus chassis, near the brake electronics. You can recognise it by the white connector with three rows of three positions, of which four are occupied; the ECS cable JDC301A has five. Check which connector is fitted to the chassis before you order.
