\nThe Jaltest JDC216A9 is included in the ongoing J1939 backbone of a vehicle and routes that databus to the 16-pin OBD2-inlet of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. From the OBD2 connector comes three branches: A grey 3-pin Deutsch connector with pins, an accompanying 3-pin connector with turquoise locking clip and an orange seal, and a separate power connector for power supply. Because both the male and female connectors are present, the cable harness connected whilst measuring. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm.\n

SAE J1939is the CAN standard used by heavy-duty vehicles to enable their control units to communicate: engine management, braking system, transmission and instrument cluster all connect to the sametwo-wire connector and use the same message structure. Because that structure and the 3-pin connectors are specified in the standard and not by a manufacturer, this adapter brand-independent. On machines where no separate diagnostic connector has been fitted, the backbone the only point where you access the bus. The cable is designed for the Jaltest Link V9 and falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).\n

What you can accomplish depends on the Jaltest module including equipment falls.\n

Because the standard specifies the connector and not the manufacturer, the same adapter works across different makes. For heavy vehicles and machines, no separate diagnostic port was ever mandated, which is why this setup is still found on newer machines.
