\nThe Jaltest JDC123A converts the system-specific 4-pin diagnostic connector of the Bendix trailer ABS to 16-pin OBD2-inlet of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. The 4-pin connector connects to the Bendix control unit on the chassis of the trailer or semi-trailer. Bendix implements that trailer ABS system in two communication formats: Via CAN and via PLC over the power supply line, and this is the CAN interface. Which of the two is fitted to a trailer determines whether this cable will fit.\n

\nOnce the connection is established, the Jaltest software can access three types of Bendix units on the trailer: The trailer ABS from TABS A-18 and TABS MC-30 to TABS-6, TABS-8 and iTABS X SC, the trailer module TRM and the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Coverage remains limited to reading data: Fault codes, measured values and ECU data, and with TABS-6 and Trailer-Link TPMS/TPMS 2.0 Next GEN also the maintenance data. The cable is included in the Jaltest CV module.\n

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕This is the CAN version. The PLC variants of TABS-6 and TABS-8 communicate over the power line and work with the separate PLC adapter JDC112A.
✕For TABS-6 (Advanced Single-Channel, CAN) the coverage lists no diagnostic functions.
✕With Bendix systems, coverage is limited to reading out data: actuating components and setting parameters are not included in the coverage table.
✕For this reference, the official product page states no length and no Link version are available, so those two details are missing here.

Applications and functionality

Using this connection, you access the Bendix units on the trailer or semi-trailer with Jaltest software: the brake control system, the articulated vehicle module and the tyre pressure monitoring system. What you see per unit varies, as the maintenance data are only covered on some systems. The units listed below are from the trailer coverfrom Jaltest.\n

Compatible vehicles and applications

The connector type is what matters, not the model.This cable is part of theBendix trailer ABS with CAN communicationand the corresponding4-pin connector on the control unit. For trailersis never a standardised diagnostic connector requirement, which is why this connector is also found onrecent trailers remains in use. The PLC variants have no dedicated diagnostic connector and operate via the power supply line.\n

Bendix (demarcation):

  • Trailer ABS with CAN: TABS A-18, TABS MC-30, TABS-6, TABS-8 and iTABS X SC.
  • Trailer ABS with PLC:Runs along the power line and works with the JDC112A adapter.

Good to know: The distinction here is not in the number of pins but in the communication protocol: The CAN version has its own 4-pin diagnostic connector on the control unit, the PLC version does not and uses the power supply line. If there is no separate connector on the unit, the JDC112A is the correct cable.
