The Jaltest JDC122A connects the vehicle's proprietary 12-pin diagnostic connector of the Bendix SmarTire tyre pressure monitoring system to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the trailer side, there is a grey rectangular plug with an orange seal, featuring twelve round chambers arranged in two rows of six around four larger square openings. Unlike most trailer cables, there is a black plastic module in the lead, immediately behind the OBD2 connector, and the cable is supplied at full length rather than coiled short.
Via this adapter, your diagnostic equipment accesses the control unit of the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on the towed vehicle. This allows you to read per wheel position the tyre pressure and sensor temperature, analyse and clear fault codes, adjust warning thresholds in the control unit, and programme new or replacement wheel sensors into the trailer network. The cable falls under the Jaltest CV module, trailer diagnostics component.

Applications and functionality
Using this connection, the Jaltest software accesses the tyre pressure monitoring system of the towed vehicle, not the brake control system. The connection is located near the TPMS control module, on the main chassis or in the central wiring box. The unit below is from the trailer diagnostics from Jaltest, with the functions available there.
Control modules you can access
- Bendix SmarTire, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS): The control module where the wheel sensors of the towed vehicle connect, with fault codes, measured values and adjustable thresholds.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Analyse the fault codes in the TPMS module and clear them after repair.
- View measured values: The tyre pressure and sensor temperature per wheel position, displayed as figures and graphs.
- Adjust warning thresholds: Set the limit values at which the control module triggers an alert.
- Learn wheel sensors: Register new or replacement sensors in the trailer network.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type is what matters, not the model. This cable is for semi-trailers, trailers and other towed equipment with the Bendix SmarTire tyre pressure monitoring system and the corresponding 12-pin diagnostic connector. For trailers, no standardised diagnostic connector has ever been mandated, which means this connector remains in use on newer equipment as well. The braking system of the same trailer has its own connector.
