The Jaltest JDC206A converts the 30-pin diagnostic plug of older Iveco commercial vehicles to the 16-pin OBD2 socket of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side is a large round connector with a knurled coupling ring, a coding key on the side and thirty pins in a dense pin layout. The cable is 28 to 30 cm long and the connection is located in the cab.

When connected with the cable, the Jaltest software reaches the control units of the older heavy Iveco range, from the EuroCargo and EuroTech to the early Stralis with Cursor engine. Depending on model and engine, these include, among others, the engine controls EDC M7 and EDC MS6.2, the Eurotronic 2 gearbox, and the brake, retarder and air suspension systems. The cable works with the Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and falls under Jaltest CV.

ADVANTAGES

✔Covers the older Iveco family: EuroCargo, EuroTech, EuroStar, EuroTrakker and the early Stralis and Trakker.
✔Reaches the engine controls EDC M7 (in-line injection pump) and EDC MS6.2 (Cursor unit injector system).
✔On the Stralis also the Eurotronic 2 gearbox, the body computer BC and the door and cab modules.
✔Behind the same plug are the braking systems (ABS, EBS and EBS 2), the Intarder and the ECAS air suspension.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕Coverage differs by generation: On a EuroTech MT/MP it mainly concerns the engine, brakes, retarder and air suspension, while on a Stralis Euro 3 the body computer, climate control and gearbox are added.
✕Only for the 30-pin Iveco connection; other brands and the later Iveco generations use their own plug.
✕From Euro IV (October 2005) Iveco replaced the 30-pin plug with the 16-pin OBD2 connection; you do not need this cable for that.
✕At 28 to 30 cm the cable is short, so you work close to the connection in the cab.

Applications and functionality

The cable is intended for workshops that read out older Iveco trucks with the Jaltest Link. A EuroCargo from the nineties carries clearly less electronics than a Stralis; the units below come from the Iveco coverage of Jaltest.

Control units you can access

  • EDC M7: Engine, in-line injection pump.
  • EDC MS6.2: Engine, unit injectors (Cursor).
  • Eurotronic 2: Automated gearbox.
  • WTEC III Allison: Automatic gearbox.
  • ABS C3 and ABS D-E: Anti-lock braking system.
  • ABS Knorr-Bremse: Anti-lock braking system.
  • EBS and EBS 2: Brake management.
  • Intarder: KWP and CAN.
  • ECAS: Air suspension, 4x2 and 6x2.
  • BC: Body computer.
  • CM, DDM/PDM, FFM, RFM: Cab and door modules.
  • CU and IC: Climate control and instruments.
  • Start interrupt: To be read out per version.

What you can do

  • Fault codes: Reading and clearing per system.
  • Readings: View in numbers and graph.
  • Components: Activate and test components.
  • Parameters: Write settings.
  • Calibrations: Where Jaltest offers a procedure.

How to use it

  1. Check the plug: Locate the 30-pin connection in the cab.
  2. Connect: Plug the JDC206A in and tighten the coupling ring.
  3. Link pairing: Connect the OBD2 side to the diagnostic cable.
  4. Ignition on: Switch the ignition on without starting the engine.
  5. Read out: Select Iveco, the series and the engine.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The plug is decisive, not the model. The cable fits Iveco commercial vehicles with the 30-pin diagnostic connection. Below are the series in the Jaltest CV coverage; the end year is October 2005, when the 16-pin OBD2 connection became mandatory for trucks. This limit does not apply to Laverda combine harvesters with Iveco engines.

Iveco:

  • EuroCargo (1st and 2nd generation): 1991 - 2005.
  • EuroTech: 1992 - 2002.
  • EuroStar: 1993 - 2003.
  • EuroTrakker: 1993 - 2004.
  • Stralis (Cursor): 2002 - 2005.
  • Trakker: 2004 - 2005.

Laverda:

  • Harvesters with Iveco/FPT engine: Year of construction is not decisive; the plug is what counts.
💡
Good to know: The 30-pin connector is located in the cab and can be recognised by the serrated coupling ring with the coding key on the side. From Euro IV (October 2005), Iveco switched to the 16-pin OBD2 connector. Check the connector in your cab before ordering.
