The Jaltest JDC218A connects the proprietary 3-pin diagnostic connector of Isuzu commercial vehicles to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side sits a small white connector housing with three flat contact points in a single row and a locking tab underneath; the cable inserts straight in, covered by black heat shrink tubing. The lead measures 28 to 30 cm. For comparison: the wider 20-pin Isuzu connector belongs to JDC219A.
Once connected, the Jaltest software reaches the control units of Isuzu series from before the standardised connector was introduced. Coverage is built per engine code with Electronic Diesel Control as the core — for example 4HE1-TC for the N-series and 6SD1 with common rail injection for the F-series — and on versions with hydraulic brake control, ABS/ASR Hydraulic is added. The cable works with Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and falls under the Jaltest CV module.

Applications and functionality
Using this connection, you access the vehicle's control units with Jaltest software. Isuzu organises coverage by engine code: what you find on an N-series differs from what is on an F-series or a C/E-series. The units below are examples from the Isuzu coverage in Jaltest.
Control units you can access
- 4HE1-TC, Electronic Diesel Control: The engine control unit for the N-series / Elf with this engine code.
- 6SD1, Electronic Diesel Control with common rail injection: The engine control unit for the F-series / Forward.
- ABS/ASR Hydraulic, hydraulic anti-lock braking and anti-slip system: The braking system of the lighter versions.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Read the fault memory of the control unit, with descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Current sensor values connected to the control unit, displayed as figures and graphs.
- Actuate components: Activate components directly to determine whether the fault lies with the component itself or in the wiring.
- Configure parameters: Write configurations and settings to the control unit.
- Perform calibrations: For systems where Jaltest offers a calibration procedure, for example after component replacement.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable fits any Isuzu commercial vehicle with the 3-pin diagnostic connector: a small white housing with three contact points arranged in a row. The Jaltest CV coverage includes the series listed below; the final year marks the Euro IV transition, after which the standardised 16-pin OBD2-connector took over. If you find a wider, cream-coloured connector in the cab, you need the JDC219A instead.
