The Jaltest JDC556A connects the manufacturer-specific 4-pin diagnostic connector of the Hyundai CE 8 series to the 16-pin OBD2-port on your diagnostic equipment. On the machine side, there is a rectangular connector with a light grey pin housing, a green locking wedge and a straight cable gland. From that connector, 30 cm of cable runs to a black plastic housing which carries the OBD2 connection.
Once connected, the Jaltest software reaches the machine's central computer MCM, where the machine functions and fault memory of the excavator or loader converge. On machines with a Cummins engine, the engine control unit ECM Cummins is added, which comes in both SAE J1708 and SAE J1939 versions; which one is fitted determines which databus the equipment uses. The cable is configured for Jaltest Link V8.1 and falls under Jaltest OHW (Off-Highway machines).

Using this connection, you access the Jaltest software to communicate with the machine's control units. Which systems are present varies by model and specification. The units listed below are covered under Jaltest's Hyundai coverage for OHW.
Control units you can access
- MCM, central machine computer: The computer where machine functions and the machine's fault memory converge.
- ECM Cummins SAE J1708, engine control: The Cummins engine control unit with the older J1708 databus.
- ECM Cummins SAE J1939, engine control: The Cummins engine control unit with the newer J1939 CAN bus.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the control unit's fault memory with descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Monitor current sensor values connected to the control unit, displayed as figures and graphs.
- Track maintenance: Record service intervals and completed work, with a service report.

Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable is designed for the Hyundai CE 8-series excavators and loaders equipped with the 4-pin diagnostic socket in the cab. Construction equipment has never had a standardised diagnostic connector requirement, which means the year of manufacture this tells you little: the distinction is determined by the model generation.

- Hyundai CE 8 series: Rectangular 4-pin diagnostic connector — this is the corresponding cable.
- Hyundai CE 9 series: Round 9-pin diagnostic connector — the JDC572.9 is designed for that.
