The Jaltest JDC629A connects the 6-pin Deutsch diagnostic connector of installed engines to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the engine side is a round connector with a light grey housing and a knurled coupling ring, behind which is a red sealing ring and six sockets in a circle. This is the Deutsch series associated with the SAE J1708/J1587 data bus; the cable is 28 to 30 cm long.
When connected to the cable, the Jaltest software accesses the engine control unit of the installed engine. The connection is not tied to a single manufacturer: Jaltest Marine covers, among others, the engine control units of Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Iveco-FPT, John Deere, MAN, MTU, Scania, Volvo Penta, VM Motori and Yanmar. For twin installations, port and starboard appear as separate control units in the software. Coverage differs per engine control unit: for some it is limited to reading out and live monitoring, while for others parameters and reset are also included.

Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector determines compatibility, not the engine brand. This cable is for the round 6-pin Deutsch connector on the engine wiring harness of installed engines. The light grey housing with the red sealing ring shows whether you have the correct connector.
Installed diesel engines with 6-pin Deutsch:
- Brands in the Marine coverage: Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Iveco-FPT, John Deere, MAN, MTU, Scania, Volvo Penta, VM Motori and Yanmar.
- Twin installations: Port and starboard as separate control units.
- For example: the Cummins ECM CM850, with component control and parameters.
