The Jaltest JDC611A is the adapter cable that connects the 6-pin EGCI diagnostic connector of Volvo Penta gasoline engines to a standard 16-pin OBD2-interface; the same cable also serves the OBD-M version. The connector is located in the engine compartment, on or next to the engine. Volvo Penta uses a different diagnostic connector for each engine generation: For diesel engines with the 6-pin configuration, the JDC527A is the appropriate choice.
The cable opens the diagnostic line to the engine control unit and to the complete onboard EVC network: The ECM EGC and the older fuel injection controllers MEFI 1-2 and MEFI 3-4, plus the EVC modules EVC-C and EVC-MC, the instrument cluster HIU, the multiplex gateway HCU, the powertrain control PCU and the steering control SCU. The coverage difference lies with the EVC-C and EVC-MC: These only provide ECU data, parameters and calibration on the EVC-MC, but no fault codes or live data. The cable is part of Jaltest Marine.

Control units you can access
- ECM EGC — engine control unit: The control unit with the most comprehensive function list: fault codes, measured values, component control, ECU data, parameters, calibration and live data.
- MEFI 1-2 and MEFI 3-4 — engine control unit: The older fuel injection control units, with fault codes, measured values, component control, ECU data and live data.
- EVC-C and EVC-MC — electronic module: The EVC control modules. These contain ECU data and parameters, plus calibration for the EVC-MC — but no fault codes.
- HIU (EVC) — instrument cluster: Fault codes, measured values, ECU data and live data.
- HCU (EVC) — multiplex gateway: Fault codes, measured values, ECU data and live data.
- PCU (EVC) — powertrain: Fault codes, measured values, ECU data and live data.
- SCU (EVC) — Control:Error codes, measured values, ECU data and live data.

- Read fault codes:Access the fault memory of the engine control and EVC modules for instruments, multiplex, powertrain and control systems.
- View measured values and monitor live data:Track actual sensor readings in real-time while the engine is running.
