The Jaltest JDC537A is the adapter cable connecting the 10-pin diagnostic connector of MTU engines to the 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest diagnostic cable. This connector is engine-specific and located on or near the engine block, with no fixed position in the machine; MTU uses different connectors across engine generations. Cojali lists the cable in the catalog as MTU 10-pin diagnostics cable.

The cable unlocks diagnostics for MTU engine control units: ADEC ECU-7 and ECU-9 from the Series 2000 and 4000, ADEC ECU-8 from the Series 1600, the MDEC ECU4 C2, the DDEC IV from the Series 4000, and the control interface ADM 2 with the MR unit pump system from the Series 460 and 500. Coverage differences mainly relate to maintenance: service intervals are only available for the DDEC IV. Since these same engines appear in both stationary and marine applications, Jaltest offers MTU coverage in two separate modules. The cable falls under Jaltest OHW (Off-Highway machines) and Jaltest Marine.

IMPORTANT NOTES

The Series 900, 1000, 1100, 1300 and 1500 use Mercedes-based engine control (MCM, CPC and ACM); these require a dedicated connector, for which Cojali offers the Mercedes-Benz, MTU cable (JDC203A / JDC510A9).
MTU coverage is primarily read-only: Component actuation, parameter adjustment and calibration are not included in the coverage table for these control units.
Maintenance intervals are not available for all units: Available for DDEC IV, not for ADEC ECU-7, ECU-8, ECU-9 and MDEC ECU4 C2.
Requires a Jaltest Link with valid OHW or Marine license; the cable itself does not add any coverage.

Control units you can access

  • ADEC ECU-7 (Tier 2) and ADEC ECU-9 (Tier 3): The common-rail engine management system for Series 2000 and 4000.
  • ADEC ECU-8 (Tier 3): The engine control system for Series 1600.
  • MDEC ECU4 C2: The legacy Electronic Diesel Control, covering Series 2000 and 4000 and marine applications.
  • DDEC IV: The Engine Management System with pump-injector units in the Series 4000, the only one with maintenance interval coverage.
  • ADM 2 and MR: For the Series 460 and 500, Jaltest supports the ADM 2 control interface and Unit Pump System MR; diagnostic warnings for both are listed in the table.

What you can do

  • Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the control unit with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
  • View live data: Monitor real-time sensor values from the control unit, with the ability to set alarm thresholds. Serial number, software version and manufacturer reference are also retrieved from the same control unit.
  • Check maintenance schedules: View maintenance intervals and required service tasks — marked in the coverage table only for DDEC IV.
  • Monitor live data: Coverage for marine engines includes real-time data for the MDEC ECU4 C2.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The engine series determines compatibility, not the machine type. MTU engines are installed as standalone powerplants, so the machine manufacturer doesn't indicate the connector type. Jaltest covers the series listed below; check your engine on-site to confirm which connector you have.

MTU:

  • Series 2000 and 4000: Series with ADEC ECU-7, ADEC ECU-9, MDEC ECU4 C2 and (for 4000) DDEC IV
  • Series 1600: With the ADEC ECU-8
  • Series 460 and 500: With the ADM 2 control interface and Unit Pump System MR
  • Marine versions: The 8V, 10V, 12V, 16V and 20V variants of Series 2000 and 4000, and Series 1163 and 1600 are also covered by Jaltest for marine engines
  • Applications: Power generation sets, stationary installations and marine propulsion systems using these engines

Good to know: The diagnostic connector is part of the engine and located on or near the engine block, not at a fixed position on the machine. MTU uses different connectors for each engine generation: Series 900 through 1500 with Mercedes-based control systems have a different connector than this 10-pin version. Always verify which connector your engine has before ordering.
