The Jaltest Trailer is a complete diagnostic system for trailers and semi-trailers: A case containing the Jaltest Link V9, the device you connect to the diagnostic connector of the trailer, and the software that runs on your own laptop.

This module does not cover engines and vehicle brands, but rather braking systems and trailer electronics. You access EBS and ABS control systems, air suspension, tyre pressure monitoring and the refrigeration unit through it. Coverage follows the system that is fitted, not the trailer manufacturer.

This set includes everything required to perform diagnostics: The Link and the Modular Trailer software activation, with the first year of use included. We activate the module as soon as you receive the device, using the serial number of the supplied Link; you do not need to provide anything yourself. You will need to arrange a laptop and the trailer cables separately.

KEY BENEFITS

✔You start complete: The Jaltest Link V9 and the Modular Trailer software activation are included together, with the first year of use included.
✔We handle the activation: As soon as you receive the device we set up the Trailer module using the serial number of the supplied Jaltest Link, without you needing to provide anything yourself.
✔Coverage follows the fitted braking system, not the trailer manufacturer, so the same module handles Wabco, Knorr-Bremse, Haldex, Bendix and Cojali.
✔It goes beyond simply reading data: You command components, set parameters and perform the calibrations and resets associated with braking and air suspension systems.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕The case contains only the 16-pin OBD cable; trailer connectors require the trailer cable kit (70002024) or a separate cable, and a laptop is not included.
✕The module covers the trailer only. For the towing vehicle in front, add Modular Truck (293100), or get the entire commercial vehicle range with Jaltest CV (29303) in one purchase.
✕If you do not renew, the module becomes blocked; this differs from Jaltest CV, where diagnostics continues to work on the final version. Renew using the update licence (29051500).
✕The software requires registration every six months; if you skip it, it locks.

What's in the box

The case contains the hardware you use to establish the connection, along with the software right that unlocks the Trailer module. The hardware is the same as in the separate kit 70001052; the difference between the diagnostic readers lies in the software module, not in the case. Below is a description of each component and its reference number.

Hardware

  • Jaltest Link V9 (70001015): The diagnostic interface you connect to the trailer's diagnostic connector, with 26-pin DB26 to the cable and USB-C to the PC.
  • Multipin Kit (70002001): Twenty multipins JTP01 through JTP10, each in two colours, the connection cable JTP101 and two power cables — JDC10AM2 with battery clamps and JDC20AM2 for the cigarette lighter. This allows you to connect directly to a connector for which no dedicated diagnostic cable exists.
  • OBD cable, 16-pin (JDC213.9): The standard cable for the ordinary diagnostic connector.
  • USB-C cable (JDC107.9B): The connection between the Link and your laptop.
  • Extension cable, 100 cm (JDC100): With a 26-pin DB26 connector, the wide connector on the Link itself. Useful when the connector on the trailer is in an awkward location and you want to measure nearby.
  • Case (70003015): The compact version, 505 × 381 × 146 mm.

Software

  • Software (293500): The one-time purchase that unlocks the Modular Trailer module. With Modular, the first year of use is included, so no separate software licence is needed.
  • Jaltest GRP: The workshop software from Cojali for customers, vehicles and reports, available in Basic, Synchro and Enterprise modes; these modes are free to activate.

A laptop and trailer cables are not included here. See Cables and computer further down this page.

Which trailers and systems are covered

For a trailer, Jaltest looks not at the manufacturer but at the fitted system. If you search by the name on the side of the semi-trailer, you often will not find it: Coverage runs through the maker of the braking system, the air suspension or the refrigeration unit. The breakdown by continent below refers to the country where the brand originates, not its current owner.

System manufacturers covered

Well-known names in the coverage of Jaltest Modular Trailer: Bendix, Cojali, Haldex, Knorr-Bremse and Wabco for braking systems, and Carrier and Thermo King for refrigeration units.

All ten system manufacturers, split by continent:

European (5)
Chereau, Cojali, Haldex, Knorr-Bremse and Wabco
American (4)
Bendix, Carrier, Dana and Thermo King
Other (1)
Vigia

European includes the United Kingdom, Turkey and Russia. Under Other are names whose origin could not be established. A name in the list means there is coverage, not that every generation of every system is fully supported.

The systems on the trailer

  • Electronically controlled braking systems (EBS and TEBS): Brake control with modulators, pressure sensors and wheel speed sensors, including Knorr-Bremse EBS 5 and TEBS trailer systems.
  • ABS braking systems: Haldex Modal and Haldex Modular, Knorr-Bremse KB4-TA, Cojali E-ABS and Bendix trailer brake control on CAN.
  • Air suspension (ECAS): Electronically controlled air suspension with height sensors, valve blocks and axle load measurement.
  • Tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS): Tyre pressure monitoring, including at Haldex and Bendix.
  • Wear monitoring: Brake pad wear sensors and the reset procedure after replacement.
  • Refrigeration units: The control units from Thermo King and Carrier on refrigerated trailers.
  • Telematics: The telematics systems Jaltest offers within Modular Trailer.

Search by system rather than by trailer

The same braking system is fitted under dozens of semi-trailers from different manufacturers. You access it via the system: First the manufacturer, then the generation, and only then the control unit.

What you can do with it

With the Trailer module you read the control units of the trailer, monitor measured values and command components. You also perform the work that requires the software: Replacing a modulator, adjusting the brake calculation and calibrating sensors.

Diagnostics

  • Read and clear fault codes: The fault memory of the brake control and other units, with code information.
  • Measured values: Values from connected sensors on the screen, as numbers and as a graph.
  • Command components: Directly control parts of the braking and air suspension system to verify their operation.
  • ECU data: Part number, serial number and software version of the control unit.
  • Parameters and calibrations: Configure control units and adjust systems.

Maintenance and calibration

  • Replace modulator: A guided procedure that takes the parameters from the old unit and writes them to the new one.
  • Configure brake parameters: Tyre size and circumference, axle load distribution and centre of gravity, and the resulting brake calculation.
  • Calibrate ride height: Set the normal ride height and the lift and lower heights of the air suspension.
  • Calibrate sensors: Height sensors after replacement of sensor, valve block or control unit, and axle load sensors for accurate weight measurement.
  • Reset wear sensors: After replacing brake pads.
  • Service interval reset: Reset the service interval after maintenance, where the control unit supports it.

Cables and computer

The case contains a 16-pin OBD connector cable for the standard connection point. Trailers often don't have one: many brake control systems run their diagnostic line on the unit itself or on a proprietary connector, and each requires its own cable. The software itself runs on a Windows PC.

  • Trailer cable set (70002024): Cable JDC103A for Wabco and Knorr-Bremse, JDC108A for Haldex EB+/TRS and TPMS, and JDC110A for trailer CAN to ISO 7638-1.
  • Haldex: JDC101A for Modal-ABS and JDC102A for Modular-ABS, alongside JDC108A from the cable set.
  • Knorr-Bremse: JDC111A for KB4-TA-ABS and JDC220A for EBS 5, which connects in-line between the control unit and the wiring harness.
  • Bendix and Cojali: JDC123A for Bendix trailer brake control on CAN, JDC122A for Bendix tyre pressure monitoring and JDC117A for Cojali E-ABS.
  • Trailer CAN: JDC110A to ISO 7638-1 on 24 volt and JDC110B to ISO 7638-2 on 12 volt.
  • Computer: The software runs on Windows. Cojali supplies the Jaltest Rugged PC and the A140 Rugged PAD; both are available separately in our webshop.

The cable you need is determined by the control unit on the trailer, not by the name of the bodybuilder. Check the trailer itself to see which system is fitted before ordering: Look at the data plate on the modulator and count the number of pins on the connector.

Licence and renewal

With Modular you purchase the software activation and the first year of use together. From the second year onwards you renew with the update licence (29051500), each time for another twelve months. While the licence is valid, you receive all new software versions for the trailer systems.

  • Validity: Twelve months from activation, included with software activation.
  • Renewal: Annually, with the update licence (29051500).
  • Installations: Maximum five PCs. Jaltest hardware is always required to run the software.
  • Registration: During activation, after each new software version, and then every six months.
  • Add module later: A module purchased later is aligned with your current licence; you pay pro rata.
  • Do not renew: The module will be locked until you purchase the update licence.
💡
Good to know: If you renew within fifteen days of the expiry date, the new period runs from that expiry date; after that it starts on the day of renewal. Renewal is done with the update licence (29051500); we activate it within one working day on the serial number of your Jaltest Link.

Update licence (renewal after the free period)

The renewal price may vary slightly. Already own the device? We will ask for the serial number after your order.

Optional add-ons

Alongside the Trailer module there are add-ons that you purchase separately. They are not needed for diagnostics, but expand the reference material, support or tools. Below is what applies to trailers and semi-trailers.

  • INFO Plus for Modular (70605043): Wiring diagrams and guided repair processes. Purchase one for each modular licence your equipment has.
  • Knorr-Bremse Diagnostics Add-on (71502007): Knorr-Bremse's own software, with original technical information, integrated into Jaltest. Requires a valid modular or CV licence. Renewal uses 71602007; the module is locked as soon as that renewal or the modular licence expires.
  • Knorr-Bremse Trailer Diagnostics (79301002): The standalone version, limited to trailer systems. Requires Jaltest hardware kit and product modification to the Add-on to use with Jaltest.
  • Jaltest ETM (70001007): External tester for measuring EBS and ABS modulators, wheel speed sensors and wear sensors individually. Works only with an active CV or modular licence, is not supplied as a standalone product and does not work on handheld devices.
  • Jaltest PTE (50004001): A portable power supply for the trailer, so you can measure without a tractor connected.
  • Jaltest SST (50004002) and WST (50004011): Separate testers for wheel speed sensors and wear sensors.
  • Jaltest TPMS (50004016): Equipment for tyre pressure monitoring.
  • Jaltest ATS: One year's access to Cojali's English-language technical helpdesk. Runs automatically; cancellation is by written notice up to thirty days before expiry.
  • Manufacturer module (29469): Select by system manufacturer instead of vehicle brand. This module cannot be obtained separately and requires Modular Truck, Modular Bus or both; it cannot be used with Modular Trailer alone.
