The Jaltest LCV is a comprehensive diagnostic system for vans and light commercial vehicles: A case containing the Jaltest Link V9, the unit you connect to the diagnostic port of the van, and the software that runs on your own laptop.
This module covers the electronics in the van: The engine management, the anti-lock braking system with stability control, the body control module, the airbag, the climate control and the instrument cluster. Coverage includes 41 van brands, from European marques through Asian and American manufacturers.
This set includes everything required to carry out diagnostics: The Link and the Modular LCV software activation, with the first year of use included. We activate the module as soon as you receive the device, based on the serial number of the supplied Link; you have nothing to provide yourself. You will need to arrange a laptop and the van cables separately.
KEY BENEFITS
POINTS TO NOTE
What's in the box
The case contains the hardware that establishes the connection, plus the software licence that unlocks the LCV module. The hardware is identical to that in the separate set 70001052; the difference between the diagnostic devices lies in the software module, not in the case. Below, each component is listed with its function and part number.
Hardware
- Jaltest Link V9 (70001015): The diagnostic interface you connect to the diagnostic port of the van, with 26-pin DB26 to the cable and USB-C to the PC.
- Multipin Kit (70002001): Twenty multipins JTP01 through JTP10, each in two colours, the connection cable JTP101 and two power cables — JDC10AM2 with battery clamps and JDC20AM2 for the cigarette lighter socket. With these you tap directly into a connector for which no dedicated diagnostic cable exists.
- OBD cable, 16-pin (JDC213.9): The standard cable for the regular diagnostic port.
- USB-C cable (JDC107.9B): The connection between the Link and your laptop.
- Extension cable, 100 cm (JDC100): With a 26-pin DB26 connector, the wide socket on the Link itself. Useful when the diagnostic port is deep under the dashboard or behind a cover panel.
- Case (70003015): The compact version, 505 x 381 x 146 mm.
Software
- Software (293600): The one-time purchase that unlocks the Modular LCV module. With Modular, the first year of use is included, so no separate software licence is required.
- Jaltest GRP: The workshop software from Cojali for customers, vehicles and reports, in Basic, Synchro and Enterprise modes; these modes can be activated at no cost.
A laptop and the van cables are not included. See Cables and computer further down this page.
Which vans and systems are covered
Jaltest Modular LCV covers vans and light commercial vehicles. A make in the list means there is coverage, not that every model and year of manufacture is fully supported. The division by continent refers to the country of origin of the make, not the current owner.
Van brands in coverage
Well-known makes among the vans in the coverage of Jaltest Modular LCV: Citroën, Fiat, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Peugeot, Renault and Volkswagen.
All 41 van brands, divided by continent:
European includes the United Kingdom and Russia. Chinese is separate from Asian, which covers Japan, South Korea and India. The designation USA alongside Hino, Isuzu and Mitsubishi Fuso refers to the American versions of an Asian make; Other includes the make from Australia.
The systems in the van
- Engine management: Electronic diesel control EDC, on newer versions EDC 17 and EDC MD1 with common-rail injection.
- Exhaust aftertreatment: The diesel particulate filter and SCR and AdBlue control, with the unit that manages the aftertreatment.
- Brakes and stability: The hydraulic anti-lock braking system with traction control and stability control, in the software ABS9/ASR9/ESP9.
- Body control module (BCM): The central unit for electrical functions, including the chassis extension module EM.
- Airbag: The airbag and seat belt pretensioner system for occupant protection.
- Climate control (ACM): The air conditioning and heating, including the auxiliary heater where fitted.
- Transmission: Automatic and robotic transmissions, including the ZF 8HP Hi-Matic, and the clutch engagement point.
- Instrument cluster and comfort: The instrument cluster recording mileage, parking assistance, multimedia screen, audio system, communication module and engine immobiliser.
- Security gateway (SGW): The gateway that on newer versions of FCA and Iveco shields access to the vehicle bus.
The security gateway (SGW)
Newer vans from FCA and Iveco shield their vehicle bus with a security gateway, in the software called SGW. Jaltest is approved by both manufacturers as suitable equipment and establishes the connection between your diagnostic device and the authentication servers, so that bidirectional tests, fault code clearing and other repair functions remain available. This access is a separate module with its own part numbers and is not included in this set; see Optional extensions.
What you can do with it
With the LCV module you read the control units of the van, monitor live data and command components. You also use it for work requiring the software: The diesel particulate filter, the injectors, the calibrations and the service indicators.
Diagnostics
- Read and clear fault codes: Active, inactive and permanent codes with their descriptions, and clearing after repair.
- Live data: Values from connected sensors on screen, displayed as figures and graphs.
- Command components: Control individual parts to verify their operation.
- ECU information: Part number, software version and first installation data.
- Parameters and calibrations: Configure control units and adjust systems.
Maintenance and calibration
- Service indicators: Reset the maintenance reminder in the instrument cluster after an oil or filter service.
- Particulate filter (DPF): Force regeneration, and reset soot and ash values after cleaning or replacement.
- SCR and AdBlue: Reset the system and test the pump, heater and injector.
- Injector coding: Register new injectors with their own code in the engine control unit.
- Electric parking brake (EPB): Open and close the brake callipers for servicing, then calibrate the system.
- Steering angle sensor (SAS): Calibrate after wheel alignment or replacement of steering components.
- Tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS): Re-learn the sensors and reset the warning light.
- Battery management (BMS): Register a new battery with the correct data in the vehicle.
- Transport mode: Disable when handing over a new vehicle.
Cables and computer
The case contains a 16-pin OBD cable for the standard connector. Older vans do not yet have this, and some manufacturers route their diagnostic lines to non-standard pins; these require a separate adapter cable or converter. The software itself runs on a Windows PC.
- Volkswagen (JDC402A): Adapter cable for the 2+2-pin OBD1 connector, two loose two-pin plugs — white with the letters L and K, black with a minus and a plus.
- Manufacturer-specific OBD1 plugs: OBD215 for the 12-pin connector on GM and OBD401 for the 38-pin connector on the Iveco Daily.
- Non-standard wired OBD2 plugs: JDCOBD2 for Hyundai and JDCOBD3 for Tata-Daewoo, converters that reroute the diagnostic lines to the standardised pins.
- Older protocols: JDCOBD6 converts SAE J1850 in the PWM and VPW variants to CAN; this is needed when pin 2 is occupied and pins 6 and 14 are empty.
- Security gateway: JDC406A for Fiat's gateway, JDC408A for Renault and Nissan, and JDC407A for the Iveco Daily with the ST15 plug.
- Computer: The software runs on Windows. Cojali supplies the Jaltest Rugged PC and the A140 Rugged PAD; both are listed separately in our web shop.
Which cable you need is determined by the diagnostic connector in the van, not the manufacturer badge on the front. Check the vehicle itself to see which plug is under the dashboard before you order: Count the number of pins and check whether pins 6 and 14 are populated.
Licence and renewal
With Modular, you buy the software activation and the first year of use in one go. From the second year onwards, you extend with the update licence (29051600), each time for another twelve months. As long as the licence is valid, you receive all new software versions for van systems.
- Duration: Twelve months from activation, included with the software activation.
- Renewal: Annual, with the update licence (29051600).
- Installations: Up to five PCs. Jaltest hardware is always required to run the software.
- Registration: Upon activation, after each new software version, and then every six months.
- Add module later: A module purchased later will be aligned with your current licence; you pay on a pro-rata basis.
- No renewal: The module will be blocked until you purchase the update licence.
Update licence (renewal after the free period)
The renewal price may vary slightly. Already own the device? We will ask for the serial number after your order.
Optional add-ons
In addition to the LCV module, there are expansions that you order separately. They are not required to diagnose, but they extend the reference material, support or tools. Below is what applies to vans and light commercial vehicles.
- INFO Plus for Modular (70605043): Wiring diagrams and guided repair procedures. Purchase one for each modular licence your equipment has.
- FCA security gateway (70607001): Access to the security gateway of FCA brands, for one year from registration. A valid modular licence or CV licence is required for this.
- Iveco security gateway (70607002 and 70607003): For Iveco, access runs per company and per device, so both references are needed. They run through 31 December of the current year; renewal is via 78500001 and 78500002 and must be requested between 1 November and 15 December. If the request comes later, new activation follows, again per company and per device.
- Jaltest ADAS (29786): Software for calibrating cameras, radars and sensors, with the associated calibration panels.
- Jaltest ATS: One year's access to Cojali's English-language technical helpdesk. Continues automatically; cancellation is by written notice up to thirty days before the expiry date.
- Manufacturer module (29469): Choose by system manufacturer instead of vehicle brand. This module is not available separately and requires Modular Truck, Modular Bus or both; with Modular LCV alone it cannot be used.
