Applications and functions

The device connects to the motorcycle's diagnostic port and accesses the control modules present.

Systems you can access

• Engine management: The control module for fuel injection and ignition, where the majority of diagnostics takes place.
• ABS: Read the anti-lock braking system, control it and configure the control module on models equipped with ABS.
• Immobiliser: The engine immobiliser system for learning keys and transponders.
• Instrument cluster: The speedometer and associated control module, including coding.
• Suspension: Electronically controlled suspension and air suspension, where the model is equipped with it.
• Steering switches: The electrical switch blocks on the left and right of the handlebar, each can be diagnosed separately.
• EPS: Electric power steering on models that are equipped with it.
• BMS: The battery management system of electric and hybrid two-wheelers.
• Alarm and parking: The alarm system and parking functions.
• TPMS: The tyre pressure monitoring system.
• Other modules: Which additional modules are accessible varies by manufacturer, model and year of manufacture.

What you can do

• Automatic scanning and VIN recognition: Inventory all available modules in one go and automatically identify the vehicle.
• Read and clear fault codes: Retrieve stored and active codes from the control modules and clear the memory after repair.
• Monitor live data: View sensor and actuator values in real time as text, waveform or instrument display.
• Record and playback data: Capture a ride and review it later to locate a fault that does not occur on demand.
• Actuator tests: Control individual components and actuators to assess operation without disassembly.
• Code and programme control modules: Code and programme modules after replacement, where the vehicle system permits it.
• ECU settings and instrument cluster coding: Set parameters in engine management and code the instrument cluster.
• Adjust and reprogramme fuel injection: Modify the fuel injection and rewrite injection data on supported models.
• Special configuration functions: CIP settings, code-and-reset and manufacturer-specific procedures from the OBDSTAR database.

Engine and drivetrain

• Oil service reset: Resetting the service interval after an oil change.
• Throttle valve learning: Teaching the base position of the electronic throttle valve after cleaning or replacement.
• Idle speed learning: Calibrating the idle speed after maintenance to the intake system.
• CO adjustment: Adjusting the CO percentage for correct fuel mixture and emission values.
• Air-fuel ratio reset: Resetting the adaptation values of the engine management system.
• Lambda sensor adaptation reset: Clearing learned correction values after sensor replacement.
• Engine adaptation reset: Clearing general learned values after component repair or replacement.

Transmission, brakes and other systems

• Transmission adaptation reset: Resetting learned shift values of the transmission control module.
• ABS bleeding: Activating the ABS pump to bleed the brake system after maintenance.
• Tyre pressure monitoring system reset: Resetting the TPMS where present on the motorcycle.
• Odometer correction: Adjusting the stored mileage on supported models.
• EOL mode: Performing end-of-line procedures on supported control modules.
• Control module memory erase: Removing stored data from a control module for a clean starting point.

Supported vehicle manufacturers

The combination of manufacturer, model and year of manufacture is decisive, not the manufacturer alone. OBDSTAR divides MS50 STD coverage across four separate lists. A manufacturer that appears only in the odometer list cannot be fully read out. For some manufacturers, a separate diagnostic adapter is also required; see the lists below.

• Duration: One year from the device's first registration.
• What updates include: New models, expansion of existing brands, additional service and coding functions, and bug fixes.
• What requires an active licence: Latest vehicle software, WiFi updates and remote support.
• After expiry: The device continues to work with the last installed version; new updates become available again only after renewal.
