The Jaltest LCV is a complete diagnostic system for vans and light commercial vehicles: A case containing the Jaltest Link V9, the interface unit you connect to the diagnostic connector of the van, and the software that runs on your own laptop.

This module covers the electronics in the van: The engine management, the anti-lock braking system containing the stability control, the body control module, the airbag, the climate control and the instrument cluster. Coverage extends to 41 van manufacturers, from European brands to Asian and American makes.

This set contains everything you need to perform diagnostics: The Link and the software activation Modular LCV, with the first year of use included. We activate the module as soon as you receive the device, based on the serial number of the supplied Link; you don't need to submit anything yourself. A laptop and the van cables you'll need to arrange separately.

KEY BENEFITS

You start out complete: all three Jaltest Link V9 and the software activation Modular LCV are included together with the first year of use included.
The activation is handled by us: As soon as you receive the device we activate the LCV module based on the serial number of the supplied Jaltest Link, with no action required from you.
Coverage includes 41 van manufacturers, including Citroën, Fiat, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Peugeot, Renault and Volkswagen.
It doesn't stop at read data: You send components to the vehicle, set adjust parameters and carry out the calibrations and and from those used in engine management, particulate filter, braking and climate control.

POINTS TO NOTE

The case contains only the 16-pin OBD cable; a brand-specific OBD1 connector or a non-standard wiring connection requires a separate adapter cable of converter, and a laptop is not included.
The module covers van and the light commercial vehicleThe module covers only heavy-duty vehicles. If you also work on Modular Truck (293100), you should add Jaltest CV (29303).
The security gateway (SGW) is not included in this set: Access to the FCA and Iveco port is a separate module with its own references, 70607001 for FCA and 70607002 and 70607003 for Iveco.
or alternatively purchase the complete segment with Jaltest CV (29303)If you do not extend, the Jaltest CV; this differs from update licence (29051600).

What's in the box

The case contains the hardware with which you establish the connection, as well as the software licence that the LCV module unlocks. The hardware is identical to that in the standalone kit 70001052; the difference between the diagnostic readers lies in the software module, not in the case. Below you'll find details of each component and its corresponding reference number.

Hardware

  • Jaltest Link V9 (70001015): The diagnostic interface you connect to the van's diagnostic socket, with 26-pin DB26 connector to the cable and USB-C to the PC.
  • Multipin Kit (70002001): Twenty multipins JTP01 through JTP10, each available in two colours, connection cable JTP101 and two power cables — JDC10AM2 with battery clamps and JDC20AM2 for the cigarette lighter socket. Use these to connect directly into a connector that has no dedicated diagnostic cable.
  • OBD cable, 16-pin (JDC213.9): The standard cable for the regular diagnostic connection.
  • USB-C cable (JDC107.9B): The connection between the Link and your laptop.
  • Extension cable, 100 cm (JDC100): With a 26-pin DB26 connector, the wide socket on the Link itself. Useful when the diagnostic socket is located deep under the dashboard or behind a trim panel.
  • Carrying case (70003015): The compact version, 505 x 381 x 146 mm.

Software

  • Software (293600): The one-time purchase that unlocks the Modular LCV module. With Modular, the first year of use is included, so no separate software licence is required.
  • Jaltest GRP: The workshop software from Cojali for customers, vehicles and reports, available in Basic, Synchro and Enterprise modes; these modes are free to activate.

A laptop and the van cables does not come with this. See Cables and computer further down this page.

Which vans and systems are covered

Jaltest Modular LCV covers vans and light commercial vehicles. A brand in the list means there is coverage, not that every model and year of manufacture is fully supported. The division by continent refers to the country where the brand originates, not the current owner.

Van brands in coverage

Well-known brands among the vans in the coverage of Jaltest Modular LCV: Citroën, Fiat, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Peugeot, Renault and Volkswagen.

All 41 van manufacturers, split by continent:

European (16)
Citroën, Dacia, Fiat, GAZ, Iveco, LDV/Maxus, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Multicar, Opel, Peugeot, Piaggio, Renault, Santana, Vauxhall and Volkswagen
Asian (15)
Ashok Leyland, Force Motors, Hino USA, Hyundai, Isuzu, Isuzu USA, Kia, Mahindra, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mitsubishi Fuso USA, Nissan, Tata, Toyota and UD Trucks
American (6)
Agrale, Dodge, Ford, Freightliner, GMC/Chevrolet and International
Chinese (3)
DFSK, Foton and Great Wall
Other (1)
Holden

European includes the United Kingdom and Russia. Chinese is separate from Asian, which includes Japan, South Korea and India. The designation USA for Hino, Isuzu and Mitsubishi Fuso refers to the American versions of an Asian brand; under Other the brand from Australia is listed.

Systems in the van

  • Engine management: Electronic diesel control EDC, on newer versions EDC 17 and EDC MD1 with common-rail injection.
  • Exhaust aftertreatment: The particulate filter and SCR and AdBlue management, with the control unit governing the aftertreatment system.
  • Brakes and stability: The hydraulic anti-lock braking system with anti-slip and stability control, in the software ABS9/ASR9/ESP9.
  • Body control module (BCM): The central unit for electrical systems, plus the EM chassis expansion module.
  • Airbag: The airbag and seat belt pre-tensioning system for occupant protection.
  • Climate control (ACM): Air conditioning and heating, including the auxiliary heater where fitted.
  • Gearbox: Automatic and robotic transmissions, including the ZF 8HP Hi-Matic, and clutch engagement point.
  • Instrument cluster and comfort: The instrument cluster that records odometer reading, parking assistance, multimedia display, audio system, communication module and engine immobiliser.
  • Security gateway (SGW): The gateway that on newer versions of FCA and Iveco controls access to the vehicle bus.

The security gateway (SGW)

Newer vans from FCA and Iveco protect their vehicle bus with a security gateway in the software SGW. Jaltest is approved by both manufacturers as suitable diagnostic equipment and establishes the connection between your diagnostic device and the authentication servers, so that bidirectional testing, the fault code clearance and other repair functions remain available. This access is a separate module with its own credentials and is not included in this set; see Optional Extensions.

What you can do with it

With the LCV module you read out the control units of the light commercial vehicle, you follow measured values and actuate components functions. You can also perform work that requires software access: The particulate filter, the injectors, the calibrations and the service counters.

Diagnostics

  • Read and clear fault codes: Active, inactive and permanent fault codes with descriptions, and clearing after repair.
  • Measured values: Values from connected sensors displayed on screen, as figures and in graphical format.
  • Control components: Operate individual components to verify their function.
  • ECU data: Part number, software version and initial installation data.
  • Parameters and calibrations: Configure control units and adjust systems.

Maintenance and calibration

  • Service counters: Reset the service indicator in the instrument cluster after an oil or filter change.
  • Particulate filter (DPF): Force regeneration, and reset soot and ash values after cleaning or replacement.
  • SCR and AdBlue: Reset the system and measure the pump, heater and injector.
  • Injector coding: Register new injectors with their own code in the engine control unit.
  • Electric parking brake (EPB): Open and close the brake callipers for maintenance, then calibrate the system.
  • Steering angle sensor (SAS): Calibrate after wheel alignment or replacement of steering components.
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS): Relearn the sensors and reset the warning lamp.
  • Battery management system (BMS): Register a new battery with the correct data in the vehicle.
  • Transport mode: Disable when delivering a new vehicle.

Cables and computer

The kit contains the 16-pin OBD cable for the standard connector. Older light commercial vehicles do not yet have this, and some manufacturers route their diagnostic lines to non-standard pins; a separate adapter cable of converter is required for these. The software itself runs on a Windows PC.

  • Volkswagen (JDC402A): The adapter cable for the 2+2-pin OBD1 connector, two separate two-pin connectors — white with letters L and K, black with minus and plus.
  • Manufacturer-specific OBD1 connectors: OBD215 for GM's 12-pin connector and OBD401 for Iveco Daily's 38-pin connector.
  • Non-standard wired OBD2 connectors: JDCOBD2 for Hyundai and JDCOBD3 for Tata-Daewoo, converters that remap the diagnostic lines to standard pins.
  • Legacy protocols: JDCOBD6 converts SAE J1850 in PWM and VPW versions to CAN; this is necessary when pin 2 is occupied and pins 6 and 14 are empty.
  • Security gateway: JDC406A for Fiat's gateway, JDC408A for Renault and Nissan, and JDC407A for Iveco Daily with the ST15 connector.
  • Computer: The software runs on Windows. Cojali supplies the Jaltest Rugged PC and the A140 Rugged PAD; both are listed separately in our online shop.

Which cable you need is determined by the diagnostic connector in the light commercial vehicle and not the manufacturer on the front. Check the vehicle itself to see which connector is located under the dashboard before ordering: Count the number of pins next and verify whether pins 6 and 14 are populated.

Licence and renewal

With Modular you purchase the software activation and the first year of use in one transaction. From the second year onwards, you renew with the update licence (29051600), each time for a further twelve months. As long as your licence remains active, you'll receive all new software versions for the light commercial vehicle systems.

  • Subscription period: Twelve months from activation, included with the software activation.
  • Renewal: Annually, with the update licence (29051600).
  • Installations: Maximum of five PCs. Jaltest hardware is always required to run the software.
  • Registration: Upon activation, after each new software version, and thereafter every six months.
  • Additional modules: A module purchased later will be aligned with your current licence; you pay on a pro-rata basis.
  • No renewal: The module is blocked until you purchase the update licence.
💡
Good to know: If you renew within fifteen days of the expiry date, the new period runs from that expiry date; after that, it begins on the renewal date. You renew using the update licence (29051600); we activate it within one working day on the serial number of your Jaltest Link.

Optional add-ons

In addition to the LCV module there are add-ons available for separate purchase. They are not necessary to diagnose, but they expand the reference library, the support or tools. Below is what comes with vans and light commercial vehicles.

  • INFO Plus for Modular (70605043): The wiring diagrams and guided repair procedures. Purchase one licence for each modular licence your equipment holds.
  • FCA Security Gateway (70607001): Access to the security gateway of FCA brands for one year from registration. A valid modular licence or CV licence is required for this.
  • Iveco Security Gateway (70607002 and 70607003): With Iveco, access runs per company and per device, so both references are required. They run until 31 December of the current year; renewal is carried out with 78500001 and 78500002 and must be requested between 1 November and 15 December. If the request arrives later, a new activation follows, again per company and per device.
  • Jaltest ADAS (29786): The software for calibrating cameras, radars and sensors, including the associated calibration panels.
  • Jaltest ATS: One year's access to Cojali's English-language technical support desk. Runs automatically; cancellation must be given in writing up to thirty days before the expiry date.
  • Manufacturer module (29469): Select by system manufacturer rather than by vehicle make. This module cannot be obtained separately and requires Modular Truck, Modular Bus or both; it cannot be used with Modular LCV alone.
