What's in the box

The case contains the hardware with which you establish the connection, as well as the software licence that the Bus module unlocks. The hardware is identical to that in the standalone kit 70001052; the difference between the diagnostic readers lies in the software module, not in the case. Below you'll find details of each component and its corresponding reference number.

Hardware

• Jaltest Link V9 (70001015): The diagnostic interface that you connect to the bus diagnostic socket, with 26-pin DB26 to the cable and USB-C to the PC.
• Multipin Kit (70002001): Twenty multipins JTP01 through JTP10, each available in two colours, connection cable JTP101 and two power cables — JDC10AM2 with battery clamps and JDC20AM2 for the cigarette lighter socket. Use these to connect directly into a connector that has no dedicated diagnostic cable.
• OBD cable, 16-pin (JDC213.9): The standard cable for the regular diagnostic connection.
• USB-C cable (JDC107.9B): The connection between the Link and your laptop.
• Extension cable, 100 cm (JDC100): With a 26-pin DB26 connector, the wide connector on the Link itself. Useful when the control unit is located in a switchbox or at the rear of the bus.
• Carrying case (70003015): The compact version, 505 x 381 x 146 mm.

Software

• Software (293300): The one-time purchase that unlocks the Modular Bus module. With Modular, the first year of use is included, so no separate software licence is required.
• Jaltest GRP: The workshop software from Cojali for customers, vehicles and reports, available in Basic, Synchro and Enterprise modes; these modes are free to activate.

Which buses and systems does it cover

Jaltest Modular Bus covers city buses, regional coaches and touring coaches. A brand in the list means there is coverage, not that every model and year of manufacture is fully supported. The division by continent refers to the country where the brand originates, not the current owner.

Bus makes covered

Well-known brands among the heavy goods vehicles in the coverage of Jaltest Modular Bus: Irizar, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Setra, Van Hool, VDL and Volvo.

All 73 bus manufacturers, split by continent:

European includes the United Kingdom, Turkey, Russia and Belarus. Chinese is separate from Asian, which includes Japan, South Korea and India. Under Other are the manufacturers from Australia and Africa.

Bus systems

• Drivetrain: Engine, gearbox and exhaust aftertreatment; in software the Antipollution group with SCR and AdBlue.
• Automatic gearboxes: The ZF Ecomat with the 9-pin Mate N-Lock connection, the ZF EcoLife in mini-USB and MCP versions, and the Voith Diwa.
• Brakes and chassis: Service brake, auxiliary brakes, compressed air preparation, suspension, steering and chassis module, including the Knorr-Bremse ABS6 and ABS24/EU12 and ABS and EBS control systems.
• Air suspension (ECAS): The electronically controlled air suspension that also manages the entry height at the stop, with the Wabco ECAS CAN 2.
• Door control: The Wabco MTS door control, the modular system that operates the doors.
• Climate control: The Wabco ATC and ATC Coach for climate zones throughout the bus.
• Electronics and comfort: Central computer, electronic modules, instrument panel, lighting, heater, display, audio and engine immobiliser.
• Safety: The Safety group, with emergency brake assistance and lane monitoring.
• Data recording and telematics: The Data registration, telematics and FMS group, which also includes the tachograph.

Search by component instead of by bus

If the same system in buses from different manufacturers, you approach it via the component rather than by vehicle. This is convenient for a automatic gearbox or a brake system which is fitted by dozens of body builders.

What you can do with it

With the Bus module you read out the control units of the bus, you follow the measured values and actuate components functions. You can also perform work that requires software access: The particulate filter, the injectors, the calibrations and the service counters.

Diagnostics

• Read and clear fault codes: The fault memory of the control unit, containing information about the codes.
• Measured values: Values from connected sensors displayed on screen, as figures and in graphical format.
• Control components: Operate individual components to verify their function.
• ECU data: Component number, serial number and software version of the control unit.
• Parameters and calibrations: Configure control units and adjust systems.

Maintenance and calibration

• Particulate filter (DPF): Forced regeneration, and registration after replacement.
• Cylinder cut-out test: Disable cylinders individually to assess engine performance.
• Injector coding: Register new injectors in the engine management system.
• Automatic gearbox calibration: Adjust the ZF Ecomat, ZF EcoLife and Voith Diwa gearbox after transmission work.
• Air suspension adjustment: Record the ride height and height sensors of the ECAS suspension system, including the entry height at the bus stop.
• Door system configuration: Reconfigure the Wabco MTS door control system after replacement.
• Service counters: Reset after a service.

Cables and computer

The kit contains the 16-pin OBD cable for the standard connector. Many bus systems also have their own diagnostic connector on the control unit, which requires a separate cable. The software itself runs on a Windows PC.

• Truck and bus cable set (29362): Cables for Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and MTU, Wabco brake systems, Renault, Iveco, the MAN TG series, DAF and MAN with 37-pin connector.
• Automatic gearboxes: JDC307A for the ZF Ecomat with the 9-pin Mate N-Lock, JDC308A for the ZF EcoLife with mini-USB and JDC309A for the EcoLife in the MCP version with the yellow 9-pin connector.
• Climate and doors: JDC304A for the Wabco ATC climate control and Wabco MTS door control on the 4+4-pin connection.
• Brakes and air suspension: JDC305A for the Knorr-Bremse ABS6 and ABS24/EU12, and JDC310A for the ECAS air suspension control on Solbus buses.
• Older buses: JDC311A for the 9-pin Sub-D on Solaris buses, JDC301A for the Volvo bus ECS and JDC302A for the Volvo bus ABS.
• Computer: The software runs on Windows. Cojali supplies the Jaltest Rugged PC and the A140 Rugged PAD; both are listed separately in our online shop.

Which cable you need is determined by the control unit in the bus and not the name of the chassis manufacturer. Check the bus itself for which connector is fitted to the control unit before ordering: Look at the automatic gearbox, in the electrical cabinet by the door and at the OBD port of the vehicle.

Licence and renewal

With Modular you purchase the software activation and the first year of use in one transaction. From the second year onwards, you renew with the update licence (29051300), each time for a further twelve months. As long as your licence remains active, you'll receive all new software versions for the bus systems.

• Subscription period: Twelve months from activation, included with the software activation.
• Renewal: Annually, with the update licence (29051300).
• Installations: Maximum of five PCs. Jaltest hardware is always required to run the software.
• Registration: Upon activation, after each new software version, and thereafter every six months.
• Additional modules: A module purchased later will be aligned with your current licence; you pay on a pro-rata basis.
• No renewal: The module is blocked until you purchase the update licence.

Optional add-ons

In addition to the Bus module there are add-ons available for separate purchase. They are not necessary to diagnose, but they expand the reference library, the support or tools. Below is what comes with buses and coaches.

• INFO Plus for Modular (70605043): The wiring diagrams and guided repair procedures. Purchase one licence for each modular licence your equipment holds.
• Manufacturer module (29469): Select by system manufacturer instead of vehicle make, with the update licence 29481 for subsequent years. This module is not available standalone and requires Modular Truck, Modular Bus or both; this set meets that requirement.
• Jaltest ETM (70001007): The external tester for measuring EBS modulators and sensors in isolation, also available as a kit with measurement cables (70001008). Works only with an active CV or modular licence and is not supplied as a standalone product.
• Jaltest ATS: One year's access to Cojali's English-language technical support desk. Runs automatically; cancellation must be given in writing up to thirty days before the expiry date.
