The Autool BT10 is a specific electronic parking brake release tool designed to manually and forcibly operate the electronic parking brake (EPB), completely bypassing the vehicle electronics. This device is essential during system failures, total power loss, or during regular maintenance tasks such as replacing brake pads. The BT10 operates on a power supply of 10V to 14V DC and uses a smart dual-channel control. The system includes crucial protections, including a built-in 5A fuse for overcurrent protection and reverse polarity protection, preventing unintended damage to sensitive brake caliper motors and the diagnostic device itself.
For use, the tool is connected directly to an external 12V power source or the vehicle battery via the supplied battery clamps. Once the power supply is correctly polarized, the Power-on self-test indicator lights up green. The technician then connects the EPB terminal interface directly to the pins of the electric motor on the brake caliper. Using the robust toggle switch, you can directly switch between Braking mode and Release mode. This mechanically retracts or pulls the spindle in the brake caliper. If the actuator reaches its physical endpoint causing the current demand to suddenly increase, the 5A overcurrent protection immediately intervenes to prevent overload and burning out of the brake cylinder.

- Brake pad maintenance mode: Manually and controlledly rotates the electronic parking brake actuator motor back. This creates enough space in the brake caliper for safely installing new brake pads or discs without forcing the actuator motor.
- Diagnostic component test: Serves as an isolated external power supply to test the mechanical operation of the EPB motor separately from the vehicle wiring and CAN bus, helping to rule out cable breaks or module defects.

The Autool BT10 is equipped with hardware features to maximally protect the vehicle’s electronic and mechanical components during external operation.
- Smart two-channel control: Provides a direct switching function via the hardware button to immediately reverse the polarity (and thus the rotation direction) of the servo motor. This eliminates the need to manually swap the connection pins on the brake caliper.
- Direct overcurrent interruption: The fast-blow fuse (5A) integrated into the wiring blows as soon as the parking brake reaches its endpoint and the current peaks. This immediately stops the drive and protects the delicate gears of the electric motor.
- Power-on self-test circuit: Proactively checks the input voltage and polarity as soon as the crocodile clamps are connected to the battery. A green LED indicator confirms that the system is safe to send power to the brake caliper.
