The Autel MaxiSys Ultra update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the MaxiSys Ultra with one year. The MaxiSys Ultra is the flagship model in the range, featuring the largest display and a measurement module that combines five functions in one. Between updates, the device itself remains unchanged, but the vehicle fleet arriving at your workshop does change. The software provides topology display with intelligent diagnostics and comprehensive coding and programming for vehicles including BMW and Mercedes-Benz, with the measurement module functioning as an oscilloscope, waveform generator, multimeter and bus tester.

A licence renewal keeps the vehicle coverage, the service functions, the programming files and the module schematics of the topology. The licence renewal itself is digital and requires nothing from you except the serial number of the MaxiSys Ultra; we link the licence to it, typically within one working day. Without renewal, the device remains usable on the most recently installed version, but no new content is added.

Applications and functionality

The easiest way to understand what a MaxiSys Ultra licence renewal actually does is to divide the software into three parts. There is the vehicle coverage, there are the function files and there is the online side. All three move forward with an active licence.

What a renewal provides

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
  • Expanded service functions: Procedures such as oil service, electronic parking brake, steering angle sensor calibration, DPF regeneration and injector coding continue to work on newer vehicles as manufacturers update their systems.
  • Programming files: The files behind ECU programming are expanded for newer control units.

What happens without renewal

  • No further updates: The update menu remains empty, even when the manufacturer releases new versions.
  • Cloud services: Reporting and support running through the manufacturer's servers may cease.
  • What remains: Everything the device can do at that moment, it will continue to do; the MaxiSys Ultra does not lose value, it simply does not become newer.

How does it work in practice?

In practice it is four steps and then waiting for the download. We only need the serial number from you.

  1. Order with serial number: Include the serial number of your MaxiSys Ultra with your order; without that number we cannot attach the licence to anything.
  2. Processing: We apply the renewal to your serial number, usually within one working day of your order.
  3. Connect the device: Switch on the MaxiSys Ultra, connect it to wifi and leave it on the charger whilst the download runs.
  4. Updates: Go to the update menu, select the new versions and let the installation proceed.
