You're eyeing an OBDeleven, you open the app page and see three plans: FREE, PRO and ULTIMATE. Which one do you actually need? The short answer: if you only want to read data, FREE is enough; if you want to code yourself, go for PRO; if you also want unlimited One-Click Apps, choose ULTIMATE. Below we lay out all three plans side by side so you know exactly which one fits your situation.
Quick answer: FREE is free and does diagnostics (read and clear fault codes) plus live data. PRO adds manual coding, adaptations, SFD-unlock and output tests; you activate One-Click Apps on PRO with credits. ULTIMATE includes everything from PRO plus unlimited One-Click Apps. The only difference between PRO and ULTIMATE is the One-Click Apps.
The three plans at a glance
OBDeleven is a compact OBD2 Bluetooth adapter with a free app for iOS and Android. You buy the device once; the plan determines what the app can do.
FREE. Diagnostics and live data. Read and clear fault codes on virtually all CAN-bus vehicles from around 2008 onwards, with no subscription.
PRO. Everything from FREE, plus manual coding, adaptations, SFD-unlock (VAG 2020+) and output tests. You activate One-Click Apps with credits.
ULTIMATE. Everything from PRO, plus unlimited One-Click Apps. You don't need credits on this plan.
What can the FREE plan do?
With FREE you use the OBDeleven as a full-featured diagnostic tool. You read out fault codes, clear them after a repair and view live data like sensor readings while the engine runs. That works on virtually all CAN-bus vehicles from around 2008 onwards, and on VAG vehicles (Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, SEAT/Cupra) the diagnostics go even deeper. What does PRO add?
PRO is the plan for anyone who wants to tweak their car's settings themselves. You get four things:
Manual coding and adaptations. Adjust control bytes and values in the control units yourself, just like long coding.
SFD-unlock. Newer VAG vehicles (2020+) protect their control units with SFD; PRO unlocks them so you can code in the first place.
Output tests. Control components like valves and motors directly to test whether they work.
One-Click Apps via credits. Ready-made functions you can turn on or off with one tap, no coding knowledge needed. Each app costs credits, a balance you buy separately or get as part of a bundle.
What does ULTIMATE add?
Exactly one thing: unlimited One-Click Apps. Otherwise ULTIMATE is identical to PRO. Think of One-Click Apps as disabling start-stop by default, turning off the seatbelt chime, coming-home lighting, digital speed in the dashboard or comfort blinking. On PRO you pay per app with credits; on ULTIMATE you activate and try as many as you want, without a balance. If you want to try lots of apps or customize multiple vehicles, that's the whole story behind ULTIMATE.
Which plan fits which profile?
You only want to read data → FREE. Reading and clearing fault codes and viewing live data costs nothing extra. You only need the device.
You want to code yourself → PRO. Manual coding, adaptations, SFD-unlock and output tests, with a few One-Click Apps via credits as a bonus.
You want to try lots of apps → ULTIMATE. Activate unlimited One-Click Apps without counting credits, plus everything PRO can do.

What exactly are One-Click Apps?
Ready-made features you can turn on or off with a single tap, no coding knowledge required. Examples: start-stop disabled by default, seat belt chime off, coming-home lighting, digital speed display, and comfort blink. On PRO they cost credits; on ULTIMATE they're unlimited.
Do I still need credits on ULTIMATE?
No. Credits only apply to the PRO plan, where you use them to activate One-Click Apps. On ULTIMATE, all One-Click Apps are included with unlimited access.
Does the FREE plan work on every car?
Basic diagnostics and live data work on virtually all CAN-bus vehicles from around 2008 onwards. Older K-line cars from before that time (like the VW Golf 4, Passat B5, and Audi B6) aren't supported. If you're unsure, run the official compatibility check.
How do I redeem a credits or activation code?
Only through the web dashboard at obdeleven.com (Dashboard button in the top right), not in the app. Log in with the same account as your app, go to the "Activate your plan or Credits" page, enter the code exactly, and click Activate. Each code can only be redeemed once, isn't transferable, and is valid for 1 year from purchase. After that, you'll see your balance or plan in the app under More and your profile.
