The TopDiag P100 circuit tester is designed for diagnosing electrical systems in vehicles with a voltage range of 6 to 30 volts, making it suitable for both 12V passenger cars and 24V commercial vehicles. The device is powered directly from the vehicle's battery via the included battery clamps or a 12V cigarette lighter adapter. The physical connection to the wiring or components to be tested is made through the fixed, pointed test probe. In electrical diagnostics, this tester is primarily used for locally verifying voltage levels, continuity, and the presence of power and ground during troubleshooting.
During use, the tester functions as an active diagnostic aid that both measures signals and can supply voltage. Through the LCD screen, the technician reads current values of AC/DC voltage, resistance, and diodes, including parameters such as frequency and duty cycle for alternating current. With the integrated toggle switch, the tester can actively apply a direct power or ground to a component, such as a cooling fan, windshield wiper motor, or relay, to force operation without connecting an external power source. Additionally, the system detects immediately upon touching a wire whether it is positive, negative, or an open circuit via colored LEDs and an acoustic signal, simplifying wiring tracing and ground fault detection.

- AC/DC Voltage Measurement: Directly measures direct current and alternating current voltage in the circuit. In AC mode, the current frequency and duty cycle are also displayed.
- Resistance and Diode Test: Checks wiring continuity (including OL display for open circuits) and verifies the correct forward direction and blocking voltage of diodes in the electrical system.
- Polarity Detection: Instantly identifies whether a probed wire has positive power, ground, or no connection, supported by a red or green LED indicator on the housing.
- Ground and Contact Check: Detects poor ground connections. The tester gives a warning signal for high contact resistance to the chassis without requiring a complicated voltage drop measurement.
Special Functions and Capabilities
This model features active test capabilities and integrated protections that make diagnosis and troubleshooting more efficient.
- Activate Components: Allows direct application of battery voltage (positive) or ground to a component via the toggle switch to physically check operation, both mounted and dismounted.
- Short Circuit Protection: Equipped with an internal automatic circuit breaker (overload protection). When driving a circuit with a short, the tester shuts off to prevent damage to internal electronics and vehicle wiring.
- Trace and Locate Short Circuits: Enables the technician to step-by-step check wiring and find the exact point of a short to ground without constantly replacing fuses.
- Trailer Lighting Test: Includes functionality for directly testing pins and connections on trailer socket boxes for power and ground.
